Quality of Life proposed features that could markedly improve the longevity of the game.
First of all, a big thank you for all your hard work and the heart and soul that went into it!
I find the new Experise feature a very good idea so far especially for replayability and I'm excited to see what the meta might look like in the future when the first ambitious players have min/maxed the most.
Also, I think it's a good idea to also let other weapons you carry with you increase in expertise - If that was intended - very good!
Please do not change this! Grind is good but grind for grind's sake is just boring and a lazy game time stretch!
Now to the really important things:
The feedback and hopefully - future, notable improvements to it.
For the sake of simplicity, I will summarize the points to be mentioned as understandable as possible:
The raid feature is -which is of course a matter of opinion- sometimes a very important feature that well known Loot Shooters and MMO's share.
Raiding in Division 2, is certainly interesting and frankly the mechanics in both raids are a strong gameplay experience - especially for newcomers to such a sector will and could have their fun.
If only it would be implemented properly:
Currently, normal raiding is only possible if you are a full, already prepared(forum, voicechat etc) squad.
And this is exactly where the rub lies.
Of course, communication needs to be right for a raid, and choosing a "story mode" raid for practice wasn't a bad idea, just not thought through to the end.
The game does offer the discovery mode, but it's not rewarding enough to justify joining a real raid after this activity.
After all, this all takes a lot of patience and time:
Something that not everyone can or wants to spare.
So the players are not missing because the interest in the raid itself is lost, but because the game complicates it too much with additional personal effort.
So what to do?
How to do it right can be seen in the implementation in Destiny 2:
D2 offers a web app on its own with a platform to select the activities to choose from, as well as a mobile app in which this is possible as well.
In addition, the integration of full-fledged cross play (see For Honor) is very desirable and also purposeful, should the game survive in the long term to be able to step out of its own shadow and generate even more player influx.
A very complex topic if you include the balance, but here I have a suggestion that would increase the value of a "rather unpopular" exotics and thus increase the replay value:
Some will already know this point - also from Destiny 2 - a feature that would influence the value and the way of playing (+stats +feature improvement of the exotic) and thus promote even more interest in "supposedly" mediocre exotic to generate more real content time.
Again, it would be conceivable to unlock the catalysts after discovering them through kills, certain missions, enemy types, etc - and/or combine them together with the EXPERTISE system now in place.
Apart from balance issues, this would be a simple way to get even more players to want to do multiple runs in various activities (Open World (!), various Missions etc).
But so that the grind would not get out of hand again, the progress systems of the catalysts could be adapted to the respective difficulty level + directives.
So also more agents are encouraged to play further and/or several difficulty levels together with active directives.
Since the game has a scalable difficulty, a veteran on the hunt for a catalyst can have as much fun again as a newbie who just got his first rare item!
We already have Exotic Weapons and Equipment so why not add the (very replayable and fun) Exotic Catalysts?
That's it for now!
I am aware that these might not be "bomb-proof" suggestions for the improvement of the game (For balance reasons for example).
Nevertheless, I hope that some inspiration from these ideas could crystallize, which finally (again) justifies the fun, which we had to experience from the "first" real mission as a group (Hotel Grand Washington)!
Thank you in advance for reading my suggestions and I hope we can kick up some dust here!
