So.. we have the registration form for the insider program. Nice to see that the project is still alive, but...
We talk about a game that was delayed several times, maybe also rebooted, and so on, and that's why I was expecting a more detailed and focused selection of candidates for this insider program.
I mean, the first bunch of people testing the game is responsible for giving feedback about the gameplay, bugs, etc etc, and for a game with this story, the right testing group and feedbacks are crucial.
Then, what does that form asks you? If you're a content creator, which social platform you use, a "raw" indication about your PC specs, and basically nothing else.
What about really important questions (at least in my opinion) like if you have experience in testing games early builds, giving bugs feedback, reproducing steps, and so on?
Or if you have ever played AC Black Flag for example? (which as we know was the starting point for Skull and Bones)
Or if you ever played other sailing/pirate games?
That makes me wonder if Ubi is wanting real testers/people that can give important/useful feedback, or just random people, or better, content creators that can give popularity to the game with previews video, etc, also if they have zero experience about pirate games and similar topics.
this disappointed me a little, because when i knew about the chance to test the game, i was really excited, thinking "i was the right man for the job". Then i went to the game page ready to fulfill a vast survey about a lot of things, just to be disappointed as said before.
I mean, i have a lot of years of experience in early/closed/pre alpha testing of various games, and so bug reporting, feedbacks about gameplay, settings, etc etc.
But more important in this case, i have a genuine passion for everything related to pirates and the age of sail, so apart from watching every movie/tv show about this theme and listening to bands like Alestorm. Runnin Wild, The Dread Crew of Oddwood, etc:
I've played AC Black Flag a lot of times to enjoy his pirate part, that's still amazing todayI've played not all, but most of the sailing/pirate games for PC: From Sid Meyer's Pirates! to the newly released Buccaneers! , so Pirates of The Burning Sea, Naval Action, Raven's Cry, more or less every Akella game (Sea Dogs/Age of Sails/Age of Pirates and derivates) Tempest, Blackwake, Port Royale, etc etc. (sure, also Monkey, but that's another genre)And on a side note, more or less every week I walk in front of the Neptune, the galleon built for the movie Pirates (1986) and I've visited it a lot of times. (that's means nothing, but is just to reiterate how much I love this things)
🙂 Hope to see you in the seas of S&B someday 😉
