The Division 2 has one expansion to date: Warlords of New York. Starting it might fast forward your character progression and lock you out of specific content/gameplay.
The game itself warns about some non-replayable side missions and trophies which might turn unreachable.
Some players talked about some blueprints which might get unavailable retrospectively... True?
Is there a list of unreachable or non-replayable achievments/content/gameplay which I might miss by prematurely starting to play the expansion? (To possibly check it off one by one.)
I currently believe that nothing will be missed, if you exhaust all story main and side missions until reaching “World Tier 1”. But is that true? (Or is there an earlier/later safe point in the game?)
Can someone confirm that all further “invaded” World Tier X missions can be (re-)launched at a later point?

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

Basically the cut-off is clearing the invasion and reaching World Tier 5. If you get there, nothing gets altered from your character and you can come back later to do any side activity, commendation or project you had left "open".

If you board the heli before reaching WT5, you'll get a pop-up warning you that you might lose some activities/trophies. You will still be able to play and go back to any main mission, even invaded ones, but all the blue side missions will be completed, and can't be replayed.

So are we talking about a level 30 agent sitting at a World Tier below 5 starting the expansion's campaign? Or are we talking about boosting an agent from whatever level to level 30 to be able to directly start WoNY?

In the latter case you will also miss out on several story-related achievements of the base game. This might also affect some commendations. This is because "boosting" your agent to level 30 simply means skipping crucial parts of the base game's campaign. You will be able to play all missions inside DC after returning from NYC and you can still complete any active project, so your endgame will not be affected from playing a "boosted" agent. But you will of course not experience the story taking place in DC (and thus the aforementioned achievements tied to it).

@mrirahilind I've wondered the same thing, I had the game ON Xbox One X but about 6 or 7 months ago I decided to switch to PC gaming and I see that The Division 2 WONY ultimate edition DLC is cheap now £20.10 GBP instead of £66.99 GBP and all 8 specialisations are unlocked and you get a boost to level 30 but I don't want to be stuck in NY until I complete it. I never went back to WONY on console and I wonder if the PC version is a better experience? But I think with the boost you miss a lot of the story unfolding and may miss some side missions/achievements. It seems a bit strange to boost you to tear 30 and stick you in NY until it's completed, a helicopter out so we can visit WONY as we please would have been better.

Just wondering if it's worth a rebuy.

There will be a few collectables you won't be able to get access to. Me and my clan mate were running thru DC getting our collectables that we missed with our boosted characters and could not get access to a collectable in Judiciary Square train station it was behind a lock door in the station where there is a ladder that goes below the station where the item should be located as per on the map. Since that mission was skipped door never got open so no access to that area.

Nothing you can always start a new character and go back and do the whole thing over if you didn't do it all the first time. So its always available to redo it all and get those trophies.

Oops. Posted a reply to another thread here by accident.

I do have a related question… some say as soon as you go to NY, all side missions in DC are no longer available. That wasn’t my experience. But I didn’t boost… I just played to WT5 and left some unfinished business in DC that was still available after. Is that right?
