    @ironsoul27 my game is crashing immediately upon login with this update

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

    Have 14 hours of just fine gameplay without any crashes. Something nasty is in the latest update.

    Hi everyone, since July 30th the game crashes every 2 or 3 minutes of gameplay, I updated the drivers of my GPU, I ran verification files from Ubi Connect, I set the graphics to the lowest, i did everything but I think nothing can do will fix this mess until Ubisoft releases a patch.
    I have an MSI GL65 Laptop with Nvidia RTX2070 and I repeat until July 30 the game worked fine with 0 crashes.

    If anyone find a way to manually fix this, please let me know! Thank You!

    @moonrakerone Found my own fix - delete the two cache folders in documents/Assassin's creed valhalla. Don't delete the .ini file.

    @moonrakerone I'm pleased to hear that you resolved the crashing issue by deleting the cache folders, thanks for updating your post.

    @heliax007 @primaris82 @leosastre23 @EthanFANG @vikingrik I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing crashes since the latest update. I have merged your posts into one thread.

    Another player who reported this issue explained that they resolved the issue by deleting two cache folders in the 'Documents/Assassin's Creed Valhalla' folder, but they did not delete the .ini file. Can you try this and confirm if that resolves the issue for you.

    If it doesn't then please try the troubleshooting steps in the support article here.

    If the issue still persists after that, could you please submit a support ticket and attach your system files, dxdiag and msinfo and our Customer Support team will investigate this further for you.

    @vikingrik I would recommend submitting a support ticket rather than contacting support via live chat as they will need time to go through your system files then reply to you with further troubleshooting.

    Had the same problem.

    Although the Meldeburne regions seems to be an immidiate trigger for the game to crash, in general it will crash sooner or later when playing on version 1.3.0. I get crashes occuring almost immidiately when entering the game to a couple of hours of game play, but the timeframe is completely random.

    Here are my attempts to troubleshooting this.

    * Updated to lastest nVidia driver.
    * Updated Windows 10 with all latest patches (was already up to date).
    * Changed / increased pagefile size from 16 - 32GB.
    * Unload all overlay applications like RivaTuner.
    * Closed down all background applications including AV, before / while running the game.
    * Clean reboot of PC, then directly into game.
    * Launching game as Administrator
    * Validating all game files.
    * Deleting two cache folders in the 'Documents/Assassin's Creed Valhalla' folder

    None of the above made any difference

    Here are my findings.

    ***Only Fix I found that worked (or prevented any crashing) and got me though the Meldeburne Region + Other regions was to:

    Lower the World details from Ultra High -> Very High.

    Some of you might want to try that and see if it makes a difference.

    Good luck.

    Thanks for sharing your troubleshooting steps with us, @mrrancor - that's very helpful indeed. It's good to hear you've found a workaround. If you'd like further assistance with it (and indeed for anyone else facing the issue), the next step would be to send across some system files that we can use to help diagnose the issue. Here's our support article describing how to go about that.

    Let me know if I can clarify this step at all!

    I have started a new game and spent 11 hours on it today only to get stuck on a constant home screen crash when re entering the animus, basically after you get on the boat with sigurd and sail off, you get to step out of the animus, on several occasions I have tried not talking/interacting with everything and also talking and interacting before getting back into the animus. ALL of which has failed to progress, I have even cleared cache, unplugged hard drives and also loading previous saves. Every time you get back in the animus, it shows loading screen, it shows the icon in bottom right corner, then after about 45 seconds it home screens me. There is only 1 day left for the event and I think its a bit rude that the last update has broken my game. I am not uninstalling and reinstalling a over 70gb game, im not made of money and this type of thing never EVER works!! It is also a digital copy so the thought of corrupt files is a little bit facetious dont you think?
    Furthermore I can't even submit a ticket as soon as I select any , the option to submit ticket disappeared and live chat won't work.....typicalt!!!

    I own the game since December 2020. Never had any crashes up until now. I had about 50 hours with no issues and I had about 20 hours with the driver version 21.4.1 with no issues. I got 2 two crashes with the error messages suggesting that it was the GPU driver so I decided to update the GPU driver to 21.8.1 and perform a clean install. Still the game crashes and it's only the game that crashes to desktop this time. I did verify the game files before I updated the driver and I frequently run sfc /scannow and the dism tool to verify windows 10 files. The crashing started after the latest Valhalla update. My pc is equipped with a 3700x, rx 5700xt and 16gb of ram and it's been running reliably for 2 years now. I don't think it's a problem on my end since I've completed numerous games (including your own AC Odyssey) with no crashes at all. There is no overheating happening on any component. It's weird that I used to run the game reliably with the 21.4.1 driver version and suddenly after your game update the game is unstable. I don't think that it is a coincidence.
