I bought Scott Pilgrim for the PC but the sound levels are so quiet that I have to turn my speakers all the way up and even then it's still too quiet. Is there a fix, either official or unofficial, to get normal sound levels from the game?
Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

Hey @leoleonardoiii, welcome to the forums! We have received similar reports of players encounter the same issues in Scott Pilgrim vs the World and have remedied this issue by completing our PC Troubleshooting Steps here. However, if you have tried all steps here, could you please submit a support ticket with your MSINFO and DXDIAG attached?
Hi,
I created the original issue back in January on the old forums, and I got tired of waiting for this issue to be fixed, so I went and located the bug in the game myself.
Ultimately the issue is that the game is using XAudio 2.7, and is always creating 8 surround-sound channels regardless of PC speaker configuration. It then proceeds to only use the left and right stereo channels. However, when outputting this 8-channel surround sound to a stereo audio output device with XAudio 2.7 specifically, XAudio 2.7 downmixes these 8 channels back to stereo and even though the other 6 channels have a volume of 0, the left and right stereo channels see a significant drop in volume as part of the downmixing, roughly -13.5dB.
The solution would be for the game to only output true 2-channel stereo instead of this 8-channel surround that does nothing, or for the game to update to XAudio 2.9, which doesn't seem to exhibit this issue.
Hey @bobmcjr, thanks for sharing this information with us.
I'd be happy to share this information with the team for you so they may investigate the quiet audio you've been experiencing. In the meantime, if you haven't already previously done so, I advise trying the troubleshooting suggestions @ubi-smash shared above.
Hey @bobmcjr, thanks for your input there and sorry to hear that issue persists.
I can see you also created a ticket and will forward the information for further review.
In the meantime, hope you have lovely holidays and if you do have any queries or run into any other difficulties in the future, feel free to get in touch at any time!
