Quick Suggestions

It is possible that the new content will include a new or expanded open world map. I hope this turns out to be true, and that we get a bit more variety, and less predictability:

    Invaded Control Points
Have control points in invaded sectors taken over by Black Tusk. Have the attacking wave be dropped off by helicopters. Some people have argued that this wouldn't fit the lore, but the lore went out the window with Summit and Faye Lau's death IMO.

    Black Tusk ambushes
These were added to the DZ awhile ago, and would fit just as well in the invaded sectors of the LZ. For those who don't go in the DZ, Black Tusk helicopters will randomly drop off elite enemies on top of you in the open world. Maybe drop legendary enemies on heroic world difficulty for those who like to spice things up.

    Multi-part activities
Introduce roaming multi-part activities akin to the old "Search and Destroy" missions from Div 1. The roaming aspect will help with making the world feel more organic, and the unpredictability of activity types will keep them feeling fresh for much longer. For example, defending a friendly supply convoy might reveal the location of a hostile supply dump. Clearing that out might reveal the location of a bounty, or trigger a black tusk ambush.

    Additional Bounty locations
A lot of effort was spent on the side missions, and many of those locations are re-used for bounties. However, quite a few are not - e.g. the police station roof in WoNY. There are also a few locations which have never been used for anything (e.g. various office interiors in WoNY, a bar in DC).

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

@dagrommit I'd also love the ability to add randomly spawning Hunter's and turn up the frequency of Rogue Agent spawns.

HVTs, that are Hunter's or Rogue Agents for some new variety in bounties beyond your new locations?

I still will hold out the slimmest of hopes for my dynamic Turf War idea too 😬

I like the ambush idea and random Hunters or Rogue Agents tracking you down… and engaging you on their terms. I’m always the one instigating a fight… it would be cool to be on the defensive once in awhile.

I tried to stick to minor variations of existing activity types as those wouldn't require as much development effort. However, I could see something like that working as a new mode you can toggle ala Resistance in Breakpoint.

This sounds like a slightly different take on the West Side Piers dynamic from TD1, which would be awesome.

Always found it weird the main base of operations, that the enemy knows where we're at, doesnt directly come under attack. The most threat it had was tidan basin pointing missiles at it. I mean like an actual wave after wave of an assault on it.

The control points once taken in 1 sector should have allowed you a bit more of a control on how they set up defences in that sector and asking for aid from that sector meant you're depleting it's manpower so maybe you should habe to do a few rescues to help build it up or it gets overrun by the enemy etc.

Adds a bit more control to how you take certain areas, how much support you'd get on doing other control points. It would involve aloy mote micro-management that is probably very difficult to put in.

Finding the missing agents watches wasnt exactly difficult on td1 but they could have built that side of it up a bit more and made that a little more interesting, like maybe you actually find the guy or girl and free them, maybe they're happy to see you, maybe its a ploy and they go rogue and you get ambushed by a group of rogue agents who ser that trap.

Resource convoys could have had apc tanks to take down. Maybe one of those god awful large drones or a chopper. Maybe they're trying to blow up a building or a settlements wall defences and you have to stop them planting c4 etc.

I think this is why we love td, theres so much they could do with it. It juat needs the love destiny seems to get, not a 1 year plan and a single expansion before abandoned. They focused on story missions, 2 raids which isnt alot and thats about it. They could have done so much more.

@honestlyok1986 is there a reason your recent posts (in multiple threads) are padded out with a massive amount of vertical space? The forum already takes much longer to scroll through a thread without individual posts making it worse.

I wouldn't be keen on having a massive bullet sponge roaming around the open world, but BT helicopters dropping off support for their activities could work instead.

First things first: I like all of your ideas and although I don't think that any changes concerning the existing open world will happen, I'd also like to see those changes applied to DC and NYC.

As for the expanded or new map you are hoping for – may I ask why do you think this might happen? Because I currently am rather expecting a more separate mode like Survival was. Or maybe something like Resistance or Last Stand. Until now I have not heard anyone mention a map extension... or did I miss something?

I know that does lead a bit off topic, so sorry for that. But in times of basically no official news it's always interesting to know, what other might have heard.

@dagrommit yeah, because whenever i type a response on my phone it doesnt scroll the screen down whilst i'm typing. So i have to raise the text up to the little window of text i can actually see, which is about 6 lines worth. New forum is of a terrible design.

@dagrommit and there's bullet sponges all over anyway, it would give a use for the specialisation weapons too like the grenade launcher as, as it stands, they're absolutely useless. Dont do big damage on named, not in pvp, something i barely even think about using they're that useless

It's purely speculation. IMO, a new mode with seasons that reuse the existing map would be a tough sell for a lot of people. They could release the seasons for "free" (and hope people spring for the season pass), but how many people are interested in grinding the same map yet again?

@honestlyok1986 huh, I don't play conflict, so didn't know the spec weapons were still enabled there. They were disabled in the DZ a long long time ago.

you know what i would love ? a way to move around that isnt walking or fast traveling , not cars or bikes , but maybe an electrical scotter the agent could unfold from their back and get on it , not something very fast but just enough to do the same distances in maybe half the time , it would be cool as hell and very current too along with the rest of the game setting.

I've posted asking for Black Tusk control points in the invasion areas since day one I think that would be awesome dogs and robots running around drones coming in - it would be a hell of a battle its the one thing missing in the game.

Its the one thing I would like added to open world

Thx! I am hoping for the same. I'd even pay for a rework of the TD1 map just to have more areas to explore and roam. Only a new mode and a new way to progress an agent alongside that mode (e. g. with separate EP levels for that mode) would bei kind of a letdown.

@n3mb0t my suspicion is that they can't do that because previous-gen consoles wouldn't be able to handle it.

@dagrommit i dont see any major reason for them not to be able if they wanted , its would be like a skill the agent activates , but it would be a transport skill, the same way he gets all his skills from his back.

if you are talking about the speed of movement through the map i also cant think of anything that could prevent it , but im also not a programmer so i can only have an educated guess.

@n3mb0t I'm assuming you want your character to travel through the world twice as fast as you would while walking. Old consoles still have mechanical hard drives and 2013-era CPU's and render the game at 30 FPS. They can barely handle streaming data from the drive, rendering the open world and processing AI and audio cues as it is. Getting them to simulate a faster pace of movement would be beyond what they're capable of. Massive would need to rework the game to reduce sight lines or visual detail in order to ensure they continued to meet the 30 FPS target.

    @dagrommit

ahh ok i see , i forgot about the power needed to have a decent drawing distance while maintaining a stable FPS at a fast pace , and you are absolutely right ,although i have the game installed on an SSD i play on a potato and i notice the pop ups in the distance and sometimes even the agent slowing down on purpose to give the game time to load because i was going too fast .

a pity though , a foldable scooter would be really cool.
