Recently, I posted a review of the drinking games, finding that only 15 games in England were playable for silver.

This post is a bug report noting the 14 other games that cannot be played for silver and 3 games that are broken by merit of a missing mead barrel and lack of interactivity. The following locations have drinking games that are a waste of time after the first play-through because they do not pay out silver when repeating a region following a fast travel...
    Stavanger
    Tamworth Fortress
    Ledecestre
    Northwic
    Buckingham
    Oxenforda
    Lunden
    Northeast of Guildford (unmarked location)
    Lincoln
    Taedden’s Shelf
    Dublin
    Durrow
    Rathcroghan
    Inch Lough Neagh

Mead barrels are missing and no interaction is available at the following locations...
    Alrekstad
    Croindene
    Odin’s Rest

Please fix this. I also made a suggestion in the other post (link at the top) for improving the drinking games by having higher betting limits for longer games, which would encourage players to go back to more destinations for bigger rewards.

Hello again @thenorfolkian! Thank you for reporting these issues with the drinking games to us. I am sorry to hear that in 14 of the drinking games, you are unable to earn silver from them after the first time participating, and for three others, that the mead barrels appear to be missing when taking part.

Could you please provide a video demonstrating you completing one of the 14 drinking games where you find silver to not be awarded? This will be helpful for me to demonstrate the behaviour you are describing to the development team when reporting this forward and querying the behaviour.

I'd also like to ask that you provide screenshots showing the missing mead barrels / interaction prompts at Alrekstad, Croindene and Odin's Rest, so that I can report this issue separately. I hope that this isn't too much trouble for you!

Regarding your suggestions for improvements to the drinking games' mechanics, thank you for sharing these with us and other players in the Gameplay subforum! The Community Team handle those threads, so please look out for a possible response from one of the members of that team over there. 🙂

    Thank you! 🙂

@TheNorfolkian you got a job to do 🤣
Also, you can provide here your suggestions, I presume, now that you got Ubisoft staff attention.

I would discourage the suggestions from being reposted, @bielik01, as as I said, the Community Team are responsible for the Gameplay subforum. As the suggestions are already posted there, they will handle forwarding that feedback, not us. 🙂

@ubi-woofer so maybe you can clarify this once and for all.
How does the Community Team work? Sometimes suggestions passed in Player Support slip, others are moved to General Discussion.
Ubi-Keo and Ubi-Nacho forwarded our feedback from time to time, and they seem not to be part of the Community Team. Now you have me confused.
And I believe feedback from General Discussion just stays there, because you don't watch that section.
I would be grateful for any information about it being forwarded (i.e. any reply from Ubisoft staff) in General Discussion threads concerning feedback/suggestions from us, players.

LoL, @bielik01... you’re right, I should have seen this one coming. Ugh... Okay, I’ll work on a couple videos with my Eivor in party mode. 🤡

    Hey there,

With regards to suggestions we would advise to post these in the Gameplay subforum where the community team can give feedback and suggestions the attention they need.

I hope this helps to clear this up.

    Many thanks

@ubi-wheelyduck Good thing I already provided suggestions in my previous post in the Gameplay forum! Thanks for the confirmation that I did what I was supposed to do in the first place.

@ubi-woofer Here ya go... an unrewarded drinking game... with Eivor in party mode! (This one’s for you @bielik01!)

Please note that I went ahead and played through this drinking game twice, and in the second attempt, the NPC does actually mention winning a prize, though there is no prize. I understand that the dialogue for these interactions are randomly picked from a fixed set of recordings, but it does add to the confusion of there being no reward since no option to make a bet occurred.

It is also worth noting that following the first attempt at this game, you may notice in the video that Duneyrr disappeared, except for the glittering sparkles in the air where he once stood, and by the end of the second attempt, he was gone. I think this may be an unrelated bug as well.

As per your other request, here are three screenshots for Alrekstad, Croindene, and Odin’s Rest, showing that the mead barrel is missing and no interaction seems possible, even though the map marker shows that there is a drinking game associated with each person at those locations.

Thank you for taking the time to have this issue addressed. I would like to also note that I had noticed the mead barrel missing following the respective story events that occurred at those locations, and that they have been missing since at least TU 1.2.0 (as far as I can recall). I am playing on my XBox Series X and have TU 1.3.0 installed. I have no problems with my system or internet connection, so this is not a technical problem on my side. I sincerely hope these reward and missing barrel bugs can be addressed in a future patch or update!

@bielik01 - Just to follow up on @Ubi-WheelyDuck's comments: Depending on the nature of the feedback, and whether it is posted alongside a support-based query, it may be possible for us on the Player Support team to forward this to the developers. Such as in the case of accessibility requests, or feedback relating to the technical aspects of the game, these are topics that we work closely with anyway so there is the potential for these sorts of discussions to fall within our scope. As a general rule though, feedback should be posted in the community-based sections (i.e. General Discussion, Story, Gameplay) as it is the Community Team who analyse sentiment, make suggestions for improvements / changes to the game, and are more involved with the nitty-gritty of the gameplay itself. I hope that this clarifies matters for you!

@TheNorfolkian - I hope that your feedback thread will be addressed soon by a colleague of mine on the Community Team! Regarding the issues you've reported here with the drinking games, I'm very grateful to you for taking the time to provide the requested video and screenshots.

I have confirmed with the Assassin's Creed Valhalla team that it is working as intended that Silver can only be earned upon the first playthrough of each drinking game. As such, I did visit one of the locations you've listed in your feedback thread to see whether I could repeatedly make wagers after fast travelling, as you had mentioned there that there are 15 locations where this is possible. I was unable to place additional bets after fast travelling away and back again, but could do so if I made a manual save and reloaded it, so I've passed all of this information to the development team for them to review and consider. It may unfortunately be that this is unintended behaviour, though beneficial, and should that be the case, I'll keep you updated here in this thread about that. 😥

Regarding the images of the missing barrels, I can see that one of these locations has already had its vanishing barrel reported, while the other two have not. I'll add your images to that investigation now and let the team know that it is happening in more than one location! Thank you very much again for your help! 🙂

@Ubi-Woofer thanks for the detailed response! I promise this would be last off-topic post in this thread (hope @TheNorfolkian doesn't mind), but I noticed hardly anyone ever provides information in General Discussion about feedback being forwarded. It worked for some time with Ubi-Keo and Ubi-Nacho. Without that I believe our feedback is left unattended (or the Community Team works just like Assassins - in the shadows *we work in the dark to serve the light*). So how is it?

    Hey @bielik01,

    Thank you for your feedback.

I can assure you that feedback is investigated in all forum categories although I can completely appreciate and understand your feedback on how it may look when a post isn't responded to.

Thank you for sharing this feedback with us here it is appreciated

The drinking bug in Croindene was already reported 8 months (!!!) ago, and no fix was released.

@Ubi-Woofer I was unable to place additional bets after fast travelling away and back again...

Pardon me for not being clear in my initial post when I said “...when repeating a region following a fast travel.” That meant you needed to fast travel out of a region and then come back again. Yes, bets cannot be made if you were to simply fast travel around England, but if you went to Francia or Norway and then came back to England, you could then repeat the same drinking game. If you would like, I can provide another video confirming this.

@bielik01 I totally don’t mind. Your query is legit!

Thank you for the follow-up @thenorfolkian.

So just to clarify, you have discovered that fast travelling around England, the game will not allow you to place bets on the drinking games in the locations you mentioned previously, but, if you fast travel out of the country using the Atlas, and then return to these drinking locations, you can once again bet on your drinking games in these locations?

If that is correct, I will happily pass this onto our AC team, to check if this is intended.

    Official Response
  • TheNorfolkian
    Original poster 543 posts

@ubi-milky Yes, that is correct. Using the Atlas to travel out of the country and then traveling back will reactivate the betting. Thanks for checking!

Brilliant, thank you for the reply, thenorfolkian, I have passed this information onto the team about this betting issue, but wanted to make sure I understood your exact workaround, thank you.

It has been confirmed that all drinking games should only pay out once via betting, afterwards no money should be won on the second playthrough of that particular drinking game. The fast travel to another country and back, or reloading a save after winning a bet, is an exploit players can use to win more silver, so hopefully, we will be able to address this soon in a future update.

@ubi-milky So, you’re saying that a future update will basically eliminate betting after the first play-through. Shouldn’t the drinking games then have checkmarks by them like the Orlog games to show that they have been ‘played’ for their intended reward? Otherwise, a player seeing a drinking game will think that it can be played for silver when it can’t be.

  • Ubi-Milky
    Ubisoft Support Staff 730 posts

This is a good suggestion and I will happily pass it on to our AC team now. At the moment, I do not have any information on how this will look in-game once the issue has been fixed, but I add your suggestion of a checkmark, much as the Orlog dice game has, upon completion of the drinking mini-game.
