He is not an replacement to Bandit or Kaid, he has a gadget that while multi-use it has drasticly lower effectiveness when doing it's basic job of intel denial by stopping drones. He's the only one that can counter dokk but the range of his jammers make it awkward ot use them as safe spots, same against lions since not moving and being able to move in the jammer range is almsot the same, he doesn't destroy breaching charges so attackers don't lose utility it only gets a temporary setback.

Mute for me is the perfectly balanced operator, useful and versatile, doesn't outshine other operators despite being able to compensate them in some ways, he's not a replacement but a good support, his guns aren't OP, he isn't a 3 speed, he doesn't an OP gadget that creates frustation and screams for nerfs. This nerf feels out of place and out of touch about the game most balanced character

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

    @xcel30 what nerf?

  • xcel30
    Original poster 351 posts

@podkall Reduced his overall range, and also the jammer is an sphere and not a cone, so all hardbreachers can open walls that have mute

@xcel30 I mean on some maps you could open walls despite mute jammer if the wall was outside at rapel, not to mention if they reduce range lot more Twitch drones will be able to destroy them NOT TO MENTION that it can now jump

@xcel30 Agreed. This nerf came out of nowhere, for no good reason.

@xcel30 they nerfed mute, because he is too OP with drone after death, a feature that the devs are working on. this is just a nerf ahead of time to make his mute jammer more easilly to spot for drones and make them a drone counter, and less of a breach denial gadget.

@karakzorn I just think that drone after death is a failed attempt to make casual player interact more and is honestly just a blatant tool for pro league matches and the pseudo leagues they are going to create, mute wasn't a problem neither he was OP they are just hammering things down and getting bent nails while ignoring people feedback

    Not true.
His range is still the same, it is just now a Sphere rather than a cylinder. And no, Hard Breachrs cannot make effective breach holes with this change. Sure HIBANA, MAVERICK, and ACE can poke some holes at the edges of the spheres, but unless they are on a wall that can allow rappelling, that will only allow drones and grenades to be tossed in, not bullets or operators.

Plus, with this, you can jam a set of walls from above. Look at Clubhouse Garage for example. It used to be that in order to prevent KALI or THATCHER from being a problem, you had to go KAID to place an electro claw on the upper floor to prevent a counter to your gadget from allowing THERMITE or a Hard-Breach Charge to be placed. But now it is able to be done with MUTE's jammers as well. And since it is now also a Sphere, drones will be jammed lower down stairwells and even when trying to jump into high places on the floor below. You an even keep them safe from TWITCH and her shock drones by placing them on tables and coutner-tops so she cannot get to them without jumping her drone up there and either exposing it to gunfire or being jammed upon landing.

What if mute was able to deploy his jammers on the walls, for more tactical use rather than just putting it on the floor he has the option to jam drones more often but not jam hard breaches or on walls where hard breaches are totally jammed

What they did what emmm nerf mute

as a mute main who has over 14 days play time

I can say mute was never op he need a buff if anything his mp5 you be better throwing it at them it’s a damm spud gun

and as for jamming drones [censored] noob jams drones

mute should be used to pick up the slack from bandit or Kidd to crate a lock out

if your above silver and can’t hit a damm drone stop being boosted above your level

    ir stop useing cronos

Given TWITCH's Shock Drone buff and how high of a pick rate she already has, MUTE's sphere effect makes it so she is less likely to sneak her drone in, let alone zap his jammers through cheeky positioning as now they are going to be less predictable for a while.

And MUTE being used to jam the reinforcements is kinda moot when MAVERICK is in play, as it is kinda obvious where you have to burn in order to break the jammers to allow THERMITE, HIBANA, and ACE to use their gadgets to make an insertion breach.

@rambobambibambo bascule what you just described is how Maverick is op and he hasn’t got a counter on in less they have changed baddit and kad to conter him I stop playing around the time he was introduced and there was no conter to him apart from put him out the game

You counter Maverick by roaming, runouts, and nitro-cells through his holes. Plus, you can always just use a shotgun to blast him once he peeks his head for an instant headshot kill through his holes.
SMOKE is also a counter, as he can throw his toxic canisters outside and set them off, getting Maverick to back away from the area he is burning through. Same goes for TACHANKA and his Shumikha Incendiary Grenades.

Lemme ask you this... what was the counter to ASH before WAMAI came around? Because JAGER's A.D.S. devices would be set up inside the objective while ASH would use her gadget to breach into objective. Until WAMAI came around, she might as well have had no counter because of how unlikely it was that she would shoot her Breaching Round into the objective or that JAGER would set up his Magpies outside the objective.

What was SMOKE's counter other than standard guns? No Attackers really counter him. Once the toxic smoke is out there, it is area-of-effect damage for all who are in play except for SMOKE.

What is MONTAGNE's counter? Sure you can argue KAPKAN, but if monty has his shield facing the bomb as it goes off; he will receive minimal-to-no damage.

Some Operators will have counters that are simply countered by what tactics you perform. After all, how do you counter ORYX or CAVEIRA, who's abilities come from talents and physiological advantages? The answer is teamwork and counter-roamer strategies.

MAVERICK's weakness is roamers, as he is more than likely too focused on shooting in the objective than checking his six. In a game of teamwork, going alone is MAVERICK's counter. MUTE's ability to counter just about everybody on the Attacking Team made him a VERY high pick all through Siege's lifetime. This slight retweak of his gadget does lower his effectiveness while still not stopping him from preventing certain actions within range. MUTE was never really meant to be dedicated to countering Hard-Breaches. Sure he filled that role, but he was more along the lines of preventing enemy intel while BANDIT focused on preventing enemy breaches.
