BLACKBEARD. His ability is the rifle shield. If he is facing you with it, he should be immune to head-shots for a few bullets. At least that is what he was. Granted, he was SEVERELY OVERPOWERED at launch and needed the many nerfs he got. But not all of them.

OPERATION // SHIFTING TIDES saw an accidental nerf be given to our bearded Navy S.E.A.L. You see, one of the major changes to that season update was not the addition of KALI or WAMAI, nor the rework to Theme Park. No. The biggest change was how Bullet Penetration was overhauled. And it made BLACKBEARD equivalent to RECRUIT.

I remember a match on Clubhouse where I decided to play a round as BLACKBEARD. The objective was on the top floor in the Weight Room and Bedroom. The setup was obvious: take cover behind the APC at the gate and equip the Rifle Shield. Peek between the APC and the edge of the stone wall and snap-shot any spawn-peekers.

DOC had his MP5 set to single-fire and was able to 1-tap me because the bullet broke the shield and continued through to my skull because of how Nerfed he had been and bullet-penetration was adjusted to allow the bullet to not de-spawn upon striking the shield.

So.... how do we make it so BLACKBEARD is not the most useless pick on the team?

I propose that we return his Rifle Shields to 60 HP.
Instead of the shield breaking however upon reaching 0 HP, it simply shatters in a manner similar to MIRA and OSA's ballistic glass being shattered by a melee strike. This would make BLACKBEARD blind when aiming-down-sights and block off a LARGE part of his screen when not aiming downrange. So he will have to duck back behind cover, pull of the rifle shield, and slap on another one in order to continue the fight reliably.

    There.
    Problem solved!
Now he is not useless and by damaging his shield, he has to ALWAYS take off the broken one and to replace it instead of where he used to have a broken one and just slap the new one in the slot within a second.

    Thoughts anyone?

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
