    I bought AC Valhalla on the Epic Store and Connect is now forcing me to download it again even have I marked it file location. I already tired uninstalling both the game and Connect and have Epic reinstall both but that did not work. Any work arounds?

    PS: if there was another thread talking about this problem I could not find it, I apologize.

    Hey @brnthay , welcome to the forums! Thanks for reaching out about this unusual install issue - that sounds most frustrating, and I'd really like to help. Can you answer the questions and perform the troubleshooting steps below for me?

    • Can you try running the Epic Launcher and Ubisoft Connect with admin rights? We've got a guide showing how to do that here. This makes sure the game has all the read and write privs it needs to properly install.
    • Have you also purchased any expansions or extras alongside the game?
    • Is this the first time you've tried to install the game, having purchased it previously, or did you purchase it now and are installing for the first time?

    @brnthay Had the same issue. It seems like many games downloaded via Epic Games that require Ubisoft Connect to play the game have this issue. I found threads that go back years and it obviously still is no closer to being resolved. I just got a refund. I guess I either won't play the game or maybe, someday, it will get on Steam.

    If anybody else experiences Epic and Ubisoft trying to download any game twice, please try >

    • Installing the game directly on the Ubisoft Connect launcher instead, after linking your Epic account to your Ubisoft account
    • Check Epics download path defaults to this location and has not been changed C:\Program Files\Epic Games[Game name]
    • In Ubisoft Connect, relocate the path to the original installation by using this tool in the launcher - https://www.ubisoft.com/help?article=000065557

    Yesterday i bought 3 games
    2 on Ubisoft Connect(The Crew 2 and GR Wildlands), and 1 one EPIC(GR Breakpoint ..no pun intended)
    Breakpoint have been downloading on EPIC since yesterday(8 hours download!) and this morning it was finished and installed. The moment I pressed play, i got pushed to Ubisoft Connect(who was already up and running, downloading the other two game - mentioned above).

    Ubisoft Connect now pushes those already downloading games to 'pause' and start ..downloading GR Breakpoint instead ..again???

    I tried to redirect/relocate the folder as you mentioned here, tried to 'Locate installed Game' - nothing help - Ubisoft Connect won't accept anything other than a new download ..and after several tries, i endup with a 'file corrupted'-message....!!
    WHY can't I just copy the full folder with the 65GB gamefiles inside and paste it into Ubisoft Connect game-library and relocate it there?? It should not be that hard to do, when i have already downloaded the full game??

    Now I have to wait another 8 hour ..for Ubisoft Connect, to download the same game, for a second time - This is beyond stupid..?!!

    I just wanna ask is it required to install on both EG and Ubisoft? Like, I'm so confused.

    Tried deleting the installed game in EG and installed in Ubisoft directly, but it doesn't work. Can someone kindly enlighten me regarding this issue.

    I basically spent money to enjoy and play the game (AC Valhalla) , not undergo through this weird loop.

    Did anyone ever find a solution or is refunding the only option?? regardless It is beyond stupid that the uplay launcher is making me download a 100 gigabyte "update" to Valhalla before I can play it

    Hi There,
    I recently purchased Valhalla GOLD edition, which includes the season pass, from Epic Games Store.
    Connected Ubisoft account with Epic and started to download, using Epic Launcher. Downloaded aprx. 48 GB.
    When started the game, Ubisoft launcher started and then prompted there are important updates which might effect gameplay experience and initiated another 100 GB of download.
    Might this be a second installation of the game or this is because season pass, trying to download DLC's ?

    Hello,  the same problem for me, i bought rainbow six on epic, 80 go to download on epic , and when i started the game i must download the game on uconnect a second time, 56 go.lol.
    I read a topic posted one year ago, the problem is still there, ubisoft you are so incompetent sometimes, so many times in fact. So many games ruined by a standardization which makes games feel the same, games not finished, so many bugs ... And the NFTs !!! it's a joke. Finish your game before put cosmetics, you don't respect the players. i'm so disapointed.

    Bought ACV on Epic, downloaded 49gb. Located game files, game key visable in Uplay. Hit play, downloading another 77gb through Uplay now.

    You guys should have just done the $10 deal that epic did so people don't need to download games twice. This is pretty stupid.


    side note to help anybody dealing with this
    you cant delete your epic files, otherwise you cant download the game the second time on uplay

    Cammon Ubi. 3000 views of this post, it's obviously a big issue. What are your instructions? I just deleted EG game to install it from Ubisoft connect. But from the comments here seem to point that two hours from now another disappointment awaits for me. What do we do? Should we go through double installation? Will I need two separate copies of the game on my hard drive? We know that you're in support and get your answers from other depts/ Should we escalate in social so that someone from U-Connect team actually looks into the issue? Please help us to help your company to give at least 1 sh... 🙂

    Dear Ubisoft.

    Why is Uplay a thing? just link it to steam and take the 30% cut to valve, at least their service has a purpose and functions properly. Most people are sick of gaming companies having their own launcher, it's generally annoying forcing consumers to download 4 different launchers, that serve only as a glorified tab to log into your games.
