There is smoke! But no fire😕

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

Hey there @AORUS2017 - thanks for reporting this visual issue to us! I've seen players reporting that torches don't have flames before, but not that fireplaces don't have fires in them!

I asked my colleagues @Ubi-Borealis and @Ubi-Keo if they were able to reproduce this issue in any form, and they were both able to, so we've opened an investigation with the developers including your images, latest cloud save file, and the images/videos we've all been able to produce ourselves as well. Should we receive any updates, I'll reply again here to let you know! Thanks! 🙂

@ubi-woofer I've had the no flame torch once (but only once) ..... However I've also been caught on fire by invisible flames a couple of times which is really annoying

@aorus2017 I can confirm that the development team are intending to fix this with a future update, however we have no ETA on when the update will be released.

Please keep checking the known issues list and the news and announcements page for updates.

@longjohn119 The issue with no flame on the torch is still being investigated. With regards to the other issue you mentioned, Eivor being caught on fire by invisible flames, can you provide a video to show this?

@ubi-woofer I reported the torch bit, idk if others did. This would have to do with an obvious memory leak issue. Not only fire disappearing, but pop in getting worse on everything. One thing you can really tell for that would be the archery target board for the settlement deco, or a weaved basket laying around anywhere. If the game's been on for a LONG time (like all day maybe) without closing the game and restarting, they look all screwed up (like half their graphics don't even load), until you get like a foot away and wait like 10 seconds. Also all the markers on the map (for mysteries, wealth etc, even custom markers), half of them vanish when you're using the bird, can't find the custom markers so you don't know where you're flying... Restarting the game fixes it all. Obvious memory leak issue... I'm on PS4

I don't know yet (haven't started playing) if it was fixed though in this last update... the notes just said "graphic issues and such"...

No because it's not something that isn't repeatable and happens randomly ..... I'd have to constantly record everything until it happens again and that's just not going to happen, it's too much hassle

@Azhrei21 As I previously mentioned in this thread, the issue with the torch has been reported and is still being investigated.

Hi @longjohn119 I understand it would be difficult to record the issue as it's something that happens randomly and you have no way to reproduce it. Unfortunately the development team would be unable to investigate this issue further without an example and more information on how they could possibly reproduce it.
