So several times in the past week I was in the DZ and came across a bizarre situation where there seems to be incredible lag in NPCs responding. I'd start a landmark and they'd be standing around in their "idle" animation. I could shoot one, wait 10-15 seconds, and they'd die.

After a few other times this happened I put an all-DZ chat out and asked "Anyone else getting crazy lag?" and another player responded "Yes. Someone is using 'the glitch.'"

I assume this is the invisible/invulnerable glitch making all the news, but does it really "kill" the servers like that? I didn't witness anything like an invisible guy attacking me, it was just the ridiculous lag.

If this is the cause they really need to fix this and now. Even if you're not being killed by the cheating player it seems to "bring down" the entire DZ.

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

Quite possible... A glitch is by definition some sort of unhandled error, but still passable with a serious effort from the processing power. I would not be surprised if this glitch is throwing the server-side in some sort of loop, trying to make it work...

It is a glitch but a different one. This glitch was allowing people to… it sounds crazy… shoot skills out of their weapons. So once they activated the glitch with a sticky bomb (there were some videos on YouTube about it) someone could shoot say traps out of their assault rifle and you would see 15 different traps on the ground. This glitch actually makes sense for it overloading the server if you can imagine how some likely wanted to see how many they could put in an area, but it was supposedly patched last night.

I was in the LZ and experienced the same kind of lag that you did in the DZ.
