I really dislike this effect in games, would be great to get an option to turn this off.

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

Hello @twostepsmore thank you for your feedback on this.

Are you able to provide an example screenshot of this and post it in the forum, in case other players would like to contribute their opinion and provide examples too?

@twostepsmore I wish developers would sequester these effects which are meant to simulate the imperfections of analogue photography: Chromatic aberration, depth of field, lens flares, vignetting, etc., etc. The only reason they exist is due to an organized racket between GPU manufacturers, engine and middleware vendors, and game developers to push people to upgrade their hardware faster, even though none of these effects add to immersion and, in many cases, are immersion-breaking.

@sleezure I agree it makes me not enjoy games any more when they force it.

@Sleezure I think some of it isn't down to malice, just oversight. There's plenty of indy games out there that clearly aren't in the pockets that have way overdone bloom/screen dirt/blur effect etc.

@twostepsmore That's true, and I think a lot of devs have access to those graphical features that are already baked into graphics engines and/or graphics APIs already, so they just enable them. But while they can make for some pretty screenshots perhaps, a lot of that stuff is just plain obnoxious in real time.

@sleezure I agree 100%. Just plain obnoxious. I really need to change this setting, I didn't buy a $2000 card recently to have my detailed graphics blurred up with no way to change. Not one employee at ubisoft said "hey guys, this chromatic aberration is blurring up the edges of the screen we need to be able to turn it off"? I'd find that hard to believe. Not trying to be rude but it's putting me off playing the game. Credit where its due though, at least they didnt force taa on with no way to change. But please, give us some way to turn off Chromatic Abomination ASAP.

I would like an option to disable those effects too.

@dragonofoz Some legend on discord (Miru) has made a mod fix removing blur and ca in one. Goto discord, farcry 6, mods. Installing the mod using the separate mod installer, has definately worked for me.
Posting this on the other 6 posts with exact same topic because people dont know how to use a search function...
Hopefully ubisoft doesnt delete/ban for "spam" but tbh I wouldnt care that much if they did.
Forum mods, blame yourselves for not guiding people towards one thread/post instead of letting people have 8 different threads about the exact same thing.
    Good luck everyone.
