My PC does pretty well on the ingame benchmark (1080p)
Ultra, HD textures, DRS and CAS OFF:
    Min FPS 107
    Avg FPS 144
    Max FPS 195
Ultra, HD textures, DRS and CAS ON:
    Min FPS 68
    Avg FPS 113
    Max FPS 138

But to have at least decent experience, i have to lower the settings somewhat from full Ultra.
    HD textures ON
    DRS and CAS: OFF
    Shadows: Low
    Geometry and vegetation: Medium
    Water: High
    Terrain: Medium
Texture filtering, Enviroment, and Volumetric fog i kept at Ultra.

These settings give me +130min fps ~160 avg fps, and i cap it to 120fps (= 70% gpu usage).
This i find good medium with performance and quality.

BUT, the frametime spikes are still there, even tough much less frequent than with higher settings.
And I cant get them ANY LESS frequent no matter how much i lower the settings!
The above settings capped at 60 fps, STILL give me the frametime spikes, even tough there is at least another 60fps performance headroom and gpu usage is only 40%.

The funny thing is that the frametime spikes are not related on what happens on the screen action wise that much. Even with explosions everywhere, huge amount of npc's running around, wont dip the fps at all with those settings, so i know it's not a hardware bottleneck.

But moving on the map, as new textures are loaded, THAT's when the spikes happen. No relation on how busy the system is. Just getting from one place to another or exploring a new area.

I have watched youtube videos about the game from gamer tubers, reviews and benchmark videos by hardware tubers (like Hardware unboxed) and i can see the same frametime spikes in their footage.
Like seriously, how badly you can optimize otherwise great game? And this is not the first time with this series either.

I know if a fix comes to this, i have already played the game trough at that point, so it makes no difference to me.
It's just baffling how this sort of major flaw can get thru quality control?

    Anyways, end of rant.
I still hope a fix will emerge to this, even if it's after i have been done with the game. So that atleast the people buying the game later on, will have decent experience.

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
