Recently the game started crashing to desktop every time I fast travel. Opening ubisoft connect, and going OFFLINE seem to prevent the crashes, but special expeditions are not available offline.

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

What are the system temperatures while playing?

Same, temps are fine on my pc too, it happens at any normal range temp on all counts. Also happens when I launch the game in admin mode, or if I launch it from the folder directly. I can't find any reason this is happening it makes no sense, but for sure it happens almost exclusively on fast travel.

Crashes to desktop for me also. It seems to do it more often after the game has been in use for some time. Possible memory drain??

Usually, games of this nature, when fast travelling they disconnect and re-connect to the games back end servers. So if this was an issue for me, I would speculate it is a connection issue. If it is, the game should handle it gracefully and provide feedback so it can be troubleshot. Perhaps you can work around it by completely rebooting, or at least completely exiting uplay and re-launching it? Or completely uninstall and re-install uplay (with reboots between uninstall and re-install).

Of course there's always the "verify files" thing which tends to fix strange problems.

DDU remove and re-install GPU drivers also tends to solve weird problems too.

Memory leak is a possibility too, either system RAM or GPU RAM. IF the game is stable at first and then later becomes unstable, then I'd think memory leak.

Then there is the good old thing of disabling full screen optimizations on the game executable file.

If I did all that and came up dry, I'd probably wireshark while playing to see what http errors may be happening, etc.

Which reminds me, restarting the home router tends to fix things too -- especially if home router running stock firmware.
