@church367a I think part of the disconnect, is how small we are. How many regular forum posters are here? How many copies of the game are out there?

Unless they're fools, they have the metrics to show what people are engaging in, for how long, who spends money, etc. I worry the amount of folks who are long time fans or people that looked to Ghost Recon to get a more realistic shooter, are slowly shrinking.

I'd argue Breakpoint is evidence of the opposite. It failed miserably in no small part because of it's direction in several of the mechanics, exclusion of others, etc. The results from the poll(s) Ubi created also mirrored much of what this community has been asking for.

I think Ubi may have felt the same as what you're suggesting but in actuality, I believe they drastically underestimated their fanbase and the impact of changing tack to this degree would have. Also, Ubi obviously recognized that there is a desire for a more realistic elements and a return to a more traditional "GR experience" otherwise they wouldn't have nixed some of the unpopular aspects of the game and created the Ghost Experience, etc.

@kean_1 I'm convinced it was the head of the Editorial Board wanting their shooting games to be more like Destiny. It explains both TD2 & Breakpoint changes in a very simple fashion.

That said, I'm much more familiar with the devs at Massive than Ubi Paris. Have the Devs of Ubi Paris spoken much outside of canned/scripted Ubi events?

Hard to decide if the Charter indicates that Ubi Paris gets it, or they just feel they can string the more dedicated fans along. Timescales on this are in years, so we won't really know until 2024 most likely.

@ai-bluefox It is cool that they added the ability to move bodies going from WL to BP. They didn't add the second half of that mechanic though, which is having places to hide bodies. I'm actually ok with that, that's honestly totally fine with me. Move a body out of site and your good, I'm down with that. Here's a big issue though, there's been constant feedback concerning that specific mechanic. "Picking up bodies is too slow and is practically unusable because you will most likely be seen during the animation." Multiple versions of that feedback from multiple players have been brought up here and elsewhere multiple times. It's something that affects gameplay. It's different from a cosmetic request. It's an issue of practicality and usability of the well-meaning mechanic. Why, oh why has this piece of feedback not been addressed after all this time? Just speed it up! Speed up the animation! I should be able to pick up and move or drag a body around my corner before the next guard turns his! Mafia 3 does this right and that's an actual GTA clone!

I'm not yelling at you Blue, just trying to emphasis those points because we didn't even get the half measure attempt at fixing the problem like they did with the base jumping and wooden platforms they added for that.

@kean_1 Man, it must suck to you what a failure had to be BF2042 for the BF franchise, broken, unfinished, unbalanced, hated by the community, dead on arrival of Portal with barely people playing this, lies, dumb operators and stupid one-liners of the specialist after every match, the game and maps =/= that the lore of the game promised with a dark and serious game, missing features of PREVIOUS BF, lack of destruction, lack of content, the lead designer only worked previously in Candy Crush and in BF2 (guess that EA wanted to increase the ways of microtransactions the game) and Santa skins... And now we have confirmations of what EA wanted to do with BF´s franchise and what will be of the next interaction: https://www.reddit.com/r/battlefield2042/comments/r88zbz/yikes/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

No offence mate, you can dislike one franchise and love another, but if you gonna criticize one franchise for how bad the gameplay and core of the franchise turn to be like it is BP then you can stop with BF2042. Another way you would be called a hater but seeing what you post and your post in the community for years, it is easier for me to cath your intentions.

And not, by no means this has to be a justification of what Ubi turned to do with their franchises and the disrespect to the Tom Clancy trademark. It is just I dislike hypocrisy and if you are cherry-picking you don't do a favour to the gaming industry.

@quimera2-98 sad fact, Mr Candy Crush is now VP of the Editorial Board at Ubisoft 🤒

Starting to sound like the franchise will keep chasing the social/engagement angle for their games.. our only hope may be whomever is in charge of the Ghost Experience parameters, then keep pushing for a Mission Editor..

I really don't get it. You made it clear in the old forum you didn't respect me or my opinions through your actions so I put you on my ignore list. .....then, instead of moving on you continued to try and call me out through others, attack my character and speak ill of me. ....and I continued to bite my tongue as I saw others address your posts. I guess that won't stop here either as I just received a notification that you're now following me? Not sure if I should be flattered or creeped out.

Anyhow, I guess my only recourse is to (again) use the block feature to prevent what happened there from happening here, but before I go I want to put your latest attempt to demean me into context (for the sake of others that might get the wrong idea).

Let's be clear that your basis of calling me a "hypocrite" (including the diatribe that ensued) and dismissing my criticism of Breakpoint stems from this one remark I mentioned regarding Portal in BF2042 in this thread:

"For me, the fact that we've lost all of the relevant discussions to the "archive" is a big part of it. The new interface doesn't help. .....then again, I've been having fun with my coop / PvP buddies in other games right now. ....Sandstorm, BF Portal and He'll Let Loose."

So, it's beyond me how you interpret me having "fun" with BF Portal (in particular btw) to a "love" of all things in BF2042 that you listed. I talked about BF2042 before and even mentioned that the only reason I was going to buy it was specifically for Portal. I hated what DICE was doing with the franchise to be honest and wrote the game off when I saw the reveal. ....but then Portal was announced and I was intrigued by it due to the freedom the mode would provide players to create their own Experiences.

In fact, I think @AI-BLUEFOX and I briefly discussed in the old forum about how such a feature in the GR franchise could be a game changer, truly offering a more sandbox tool for players to create as hardcore or casual a gameplay experience they wanted. Better then a mission creator / editor IMO using assets from past and future titles (e.g. the original GR(s), AW, FS, WL, BP, etc.). I'd be all over that and I actually hope Portal becomes more successful so other franchises (like GR) might take notice in an attempt to cater to both old and new fans alike.

....so, since you brought it up, yes, I am having a blast with the new Portal mode in BF2042 and no, I don't like much about BF2042 otherwise. In fact, I was sorely disappointed with their decision to go the route they did and it reminds me of exactly what Ubi was / is trying to do with the TC/GR IPs. ....especially when you hear about what EA / DICE wants to do with the series going forward.

Portal is the only reason I bought the game and the only thing I feel they got right. Ripple Effect has done a great job so far with the exception of the XP/progression IMO which they continue to work on but luckily, only really affects 2042 assets. ....other than that, it's been great using the old assets from 1942, BC2 and BF3 (weapons, maps, classes ,etc.) to create our own Experiences. Tailoring the TTK and other aspects through the long list of other options you can choose. I have even created Experiences using the 2042 assets but filtering out most about what I didn't like about the new game by getting rid of the gadgets, lowering the TTK and so on.

They just added 7 new maps to Portal last week along with some other additions / changes including enhancements to the logic editor which I still have yet to dive in to. Portal is supposed to follow the franchise past BF2042 and I hope it does. If not, we would have still had fun but if it does, this may continue to be a source of entertainment for my friends and I for a long while.

I wish you luck @Quimera2-98 and for your sake, I hope you can get over whatever hang up you have with me.

@kean_1 Glad to hear Portal is functioning, it's why I was considering picking up BF2042 eventually. I just don't see $60 in value from Portal alone.

I'm curious though on Hell Let Loose? I have it on my Steam wishlist, but hesitate as someone who will be solo-queuing .. everything about it seems great, but I'm nervous about the community and how they'll treat a solo noob [who will use a mic and not Rambo/COD]. As well as time commitments for matches - any negative repercussions from having to drop out?

Yeah, the only issues I have run into with Portal is the XP / progression being pulled / limited due to XP farming by cheaters. There is a high level rep from Ripple Effect that has been communicating almost daily with players on Twitter and they are fully aware and working the issue.

The other issue I've had were random disconnects saying that I was not logged into the PS network. That too they were aware of and are working on. It started with my PS5 version and my PS4 version. ....then it was isolated to my PS5 version and the past couple of days it seems to have resolved.

I bought the game fully knowing that I would likely never play Hazard Zone and most probably not venture into PvP AOW. I really only bought the game for Portal. I thought it was worth the $70 (cross-gen bundle) but that really boils down the individual and what they are looking to get from the game. I was also buying it knowing that I would also only be hosting games for me and my friends and not likely ever joining randoms in theirs. In that respect, the game has not let me down and has been a lot of fun. My closest PS friend recently bought it after I share played with him and is now convincing the rest of our friends to do the same.

    Hell Let Loose:
I participated in the closed beta on this one which lasted for about a month. It's a next-gen only game which means I was not interested in buying it since my friends still haven't been able to source a PS5 yet. ....but then it was announced as one of the PS+ titles just before release so I decide to give it a go again.

I was lucky to find a couple folks who were very pleasant to deal with and actually had the patience to show me the ropes. ....HLL has a steep learning curve IMO / IME. The community in general seems ok but as with a lot of games, it can be hit and miss with randoms. Your best bet is to make some friends that you can join up with because this game requires teamwork. There is no downplaying that aspect IMO. I feel it's crucial if you want to have a good time and communication if part of that. There are a lot of folks who refuse to talk but then again, there are those that do and it makes it a lot more fun to hitch your wagon to those. I now have a separate, short friend list of HLL players and those friends have friends, etc.

It's hard call to recommend that one though. It's an immersive game but really unforgiving. Really depends what you're looking for.

Kean, I don't know if there is an Off-Topic place in this forum but I would be interest in seeing some of the videos you guys have with Portal (even if Co-Op). I don't think I can see myself paying 60 cheeseburgers for it right now, more so because I know how lazy I am when it comes to making my own content but I could pick it up at some point next year and try to learn a few tricks. Also, I do remember you saying something like you can grab content from what others have already made?

No, I don't think this site has an off-topic. I don't have any videos I have created but I'd be happy to answer any questions. Just shoot me a PM. .....assuming this place allows that. Maybe one day I will create one just to show the options, etc. and how that translates to the gameplay. If you were on PS4 or PS5, I'd try to do a Share Play with you so you can see first hand.

    @LateNiteDelight
Yeah, I think the only big question mark is the community on your platform. To be honest, I haven't spent near the time on HLL as I have on Sandstorm or (now) BF Portal. .....but when you do find those that you can befriend, I notice the doors open up on your network as you meet friends of those friends and so on. As far as the gameplay, I'm sure you've watched the gameplay videos and so on. You should have a good idea of how hardcore the game is. Some rounds I'd be lucky to even see the enemy let alone bag a couple kills.

Well, maybe some day soon there will be a way to buy a PS5 w/o having to highjack the president of Best Buy or Newegg 😀 or an emulator that can allow you to play with Keyboard & Mouse (the ones I have seen and tested seem to be made from the same people, well, you know?!). Hard as I try I just can't bother going back to a controller.

Oh and I am soooo over WWII weaponry these days and I have yet to check out if their solo campaign is up to snuff or not but, if this is the best that Ubi can Muster out of a GR AAA game then for sure I am going to have to give up and seek mature fun some where's else... to the detriment of many of my fans here!

@kean_1 Sorry to read that but you got me wrong, it is the fact that you add me to an "ignore list" previously in the old forums for a trifle, now that I read me I may ask you to excuse me because I see I overreached. The trifle you blocked me before was because of a matter in which I didn't even involve with you, before at any other thread due to I already agree with you, it is when CP2077 was released and some guys bring this to the old forum as an example of good launch or GOTY, and we all know after a week how bad turn to be the game at launch, a game that the only difference with the release of BP it is that BP didn't respect the cores of the Ghost Recon previous games and CP2077 at least didn't have any game released being a decades-old boardgame, and what bad praxis CDProject Red did before the game release like they hid the console versions, they did not show it until launch day and they only gave the press some videos already recorded from the developer's offices and that by clause the magazines could not show anything of theirs until after the launch. I never saw this in my years in the game industry. Because I grow bored of replying with paragraphs or typing to the people who defended CDPRED and CP2077, I dedicate any reply to post with links and videos of the game release. Like you can see, this has nothing to see with the awful management of Ubi with her franchises, but with other publishers and their franchises that you "ignored me".

I take this as a problem because let says you would be one of the people I take serious feedback about other shooter franchises and I had hoped to play with you in some of them that when I read in another post in another thread that you "ignore me" with that feature that I toke that like a punch to the face. I take this seriously because consumers and gamers shouldn't tolerate bad praxis and behaviours of the AAA companies in years they launch unfinished garbage like BF2042, GTATheDefinitiveEdiditon and many more, people should have higher standards when it comes to buying a game that they have paid for even months before launch, we want a playable game day one, not years after its launch.

As you see, this has nothing to see with the awful Ubisoft´s management with the Tom Clancy game branches. Hope this help rethink some things. I play Sandstorm with this

    if you
    .

Yeah, my friends have had a heck of a time obtaining a PS5. I was lucky but also persistent. .....being retired helps.

Not sure which campaign you're talking about though. Neither Bf2042 nor HLL have campaigns. They are MP only. ....well, BF2042 has solo, coop and then Portal modes which (the latter) allow you to create Experiences that can be based on solo, coop and/or PvP.. Portal is the only reason I bought the game. My friends and I use it mainly for PvE playing Rush and Conquest modes. I created Experiences with infantry only and those that include armor. I've got it tweaked the point where the TTK is perfect for us to create a more hardcore experience ( no bullet sponge damage).

Sorry, I thought that by WWII weaponry you would have deduced I was talking about Hell Let Loose. I don't know why, most times, I assume people will get my references, my mind writes way faster than my fingers do.... my bad

And, this is weird, I had read somewhere (in Google of course) that HLL did have a campaign? Then, most definitely I won't be getting it any time soon, unless of course once we are done with the WL campaign, we decide to jump to something else but I will probably give BF a try before HLL

Understood but no, HLL doesn't have a campaign. It's all-in a PvP, hardcore experience.
