@ubi-oxavo I understand that the character, Layla, is accessing Eivor’s genetic memories but does the Animus machine somehow send the character back to the past? In the first Assassin’s Creed game, the character finds an email about a piece of Eden which is used for time travel which has been locked away due to concerns of accidentally creating paradoxes. I also heard that in Assassins’s Creed Origins, you get a message from an Isu character that mentions that the past can be altered through the Animus machine so is the machine used for time travel? Does Layla’s consciousness go back in time and see through Eivor’s eyes?

    Anyone’s feedback would be appreciated.

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

@ubi-milky okay. Thank you for letting me know.

@LV13578 no, the Animus is only used to re-live memories stored in DNA (in the first games Desmond was able to explore memories of his own ancestor, but later Animus got upgraded and once you have a blood sample of someone, you can enter his/her past). Animus is not an Isu artifact. Read more here.

@bielik01 all right. thanks for replying. So, what we’re seeing, when we play as Eivor the Viking, is it virtual reality or does it actually go back in time? I thought it goes back in time since the player (Eivor) already has knowledge of who certain people are as well as fighting skills.

@lv13578 we literally become Eivor. Animus from the DNA sample got her memories sequenced, that's why we can witness her parents being murdered, later her going to England, and fighting the Order of the Ancients.

@bielik01 Thank you for responding. Not trying to sound rude but my question is still unanswered. I read an article about the animus and it says it’s a virtual reality machine. Is what we’re seeing (when playing as Eivor) is a simulation/virtual reality? Or does it actually take place in the past?

    Thanks

    Luke

@lv13578 it takes place in the past, as I wrote earlier we re-live Eivor's memories sequenced by the Animus. It's not a time machine which takes us back to the past so that it could be altered.
That's why the codex database gets updated as we progress through the story.

@bielik01 okay. Thank you for replying. Is there anyway you can confirm this with the Ubisoft staff? I’d really appreciate it if you can. I always thought that it was virtual reality since it said that the Animus was a virtual reality machine. I didn’t know that it supposedly takes place in the past like you said. I managed to get a hold of one of the members in another discussion but not this one.

    Thanks.

@lv13578 I really don't know who you might want to be involved in this discussion... Please, just read what's already on the Internet, eg. https://gamerant.com/assassins-creed-animus-make-no-sense/
But what's troubling you is probably this... no one ever had any time-travel machine, not even the Isu. What they had was the Eye, which helped them calculate probabilities, so they would know Ezio would have a successor - Desmond, eventually the coronal mass ejection would happen again, and that Desmond would use the Animus, so they left him messages on how to stop the coronal mass ejection from happening.
