Yes, Ubisoft, it's really me trying to run the game. Can't you see I have set the launcher to remember me on every login? That it's the same computer I always use which I currently am using to run Far Cry 3? Why does this game need this stupid [censored] validation system? I just wanna play this garbage.

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

@relentless987 Far Cry 3 is a legacy game. With most legacy games, the latest Ubisoft Connect client requires authentication to be entered for each run, likely because the older games use a different authentication scheme than the one adopted by the more recent games.

So, it's per design, to still allow the old games to function. See https://discussions.ubisoft.com/topic/104492/far-cry-3-asks-for-password-to-play-even-though-i-m-logged-in/24?lang=en-US&page=2

@ubi-viral With all due respect, it can be unsafe to run anything with admin privileges. No one else in the industry requires this. Even Epic, awful as that launcher is, doesn't require this. Instead of doubling down on your nutty security measures for older games, you should be loosening them because these titles are ancient anyway and you've already made peak profit off of them.

Anyhow, I know that the poor tech support guys on the forum can't really change anything. Nothing against you guys, not your fault. Just really needed to vent. Please don't be offended, you guys aren't the people I take issue with.

    Hey @z2k199

I'm aware there can be risks when running things you don't trust in admin mode, though, we wouldn't suggest running Ubisoft Connect or our games as admin if we didn't believe it to be safe to do so.

However, I have removed the post above that referred to using run as admin for this issue, as it has been mentioned in the other post linked above that this is intended. As I also mentioned in that thread, we have forwarded the feedback about this on to the Ubisoft Connect team.
