So a player opens up in PvP and the second he hits me my entire UI goes purple. Not red, but purple, and my health went from 100% to 0 instantly and I died. It bypassed my armor completely.

I inspected his build and he's running Eagle Bearer and Memento backpack. The rest is mostly the meta build. Nothing to proc bleed, and besides it was clearly purple. He had a shield and EMP sticky.

I have never seen the purple status-like effect before. Is this a new effect, something from EB I never noticed before, or a cheat?

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

    @sock_monkey

EB hits are nothing special for the target, just the regular AR. What is does is delays/cancels the damage for the shooter.
There might be something from the special ammos, but nothing I know about.
Re. bypassing the armor, I think I ran into some sort of poison or gas grenades (also steam in Kajika mission) that would go straight to health and could kill you with full armor, not so fast tho and I think the gas was yellow...
But nothing from what you listed could do that, and EB is out of the question. And I've never seen the UI go purple.
Sounds like another exploit to me.

You sure that was an EMP sticky and not an Oxidizer? Oxidizer may be a long shot explanation, but it would have to be maxed out to kill you that fast (... and it's purple).

@adrian-11 Positive it was an EMP sticky because he started every attack shooting that at me, then opened up with the EB (whereupon I instantly went "purple").

Well, he is starting with that to take your shield down, or to prevent you from use it.
I have no possible explanation for EB bypassing the armor and the purple thing...

Posion status effect does bypass player life but it's extremely rare and mostly caused by certain explosives or canisters in missions, the weird underground granadier uses poison granade but once again they are extremely rare enemy. Extra note is that kajika final part of the mission is not poison but steam that also ignores your armor and does health damage but it's considered an ambiental effect and not status effect like poison that clearly has a simbol on the hud.

If i were to guess it was a weird lag switch or hack that just did a large amount of damage to one shot you, the only weird purple thing i can think of is the first raid purple gas from the second boss

@sock_monkey Would a Vile Dot do that?

@sock_monkey only thing i could suggest is it isnt showing the true build he had on. Sometimes if they swap recently it takes a min or two to show up the real one. Only skill i can think of that would do that is that purple poison type sticky one (im not online, cant remembrr the name off the top of my head) however if he was running a typical damage eb meta kinda build it shouldnt have done enough to kill you quickly. Momento may change that fully stacked, that pistol with skill tier on, rocket launcher specialisation all combined would be 3 skill tier so would do some decent damage. It would also depend on what you were wearing, lvl 30 or 40 pvp, hazard etc. Take any clips? Did you ask him how his build worked?

From what you're saying though, that sounds pretty dodgy to me. I dont think ive ever had purple screen in the 26'000 dz kills ive got between shd an rogue other than when hit by that skill, which he wasnt using here.

I don't think Vile bypasses the armor. And the damage from it is not instant, takes 10 seconds and it's depended on how much status effect have on you (which sounds like this guy didn't have).

What if, since we know the weapon you're holding effects the damage of the Oxidizer, they had the EB's talent proc'ed and used the Oxi? EB's talent doesn't increase damage output, but that's the only thing I can think of, except you mentioned they didn't have the Oxi....?
