I start out at an island with a ship. Obviously, I must send that ship somewhere, so it can perform some useful function. Clicking on the ship brings up a menu that offers NO WAY to actually get the ship to GO anywhere. NOTHING on the screen has any effect on the ship going anywhere. I find this puzzling; I find the entire Anno 1800 UI to be puzzling.

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

@simplepedant Right-click, dude. Play the tutorial, for God's sake.

@mstrsnstr There is no "tutorial." There is an entirely undocumented sandbox, which is not the same thing. There is presumably some way to move a ship further than what is visible in the (ridiculously small) view provided on the main map, but it is undocumented. There is presumably some way to initiate a building's construction once you've placed it using the blueprint view, but it is undocumented. The operation of the interface is completely undocumented by the publisher, and the player-created references are erratic, contradictory, incomplete, and confusing.

I suppose that some people feel that learning how to pick up a rock in a game this complex is part of the fun, but I don't.

    Hey there, @simplepedant!

You should be able to click the ship, and then right-click the area you'd like to move the ship to. If you're experiencing issues finding the tutorial, try starting a new game in the campaign mode and it will automatically start. Feel free to let me know if you have further questions!

@simplepedant Well, no one said the tutorial was in the sandbox. It is at the beginning of the campaign. All the other thousands and thousands of people who know how to move ships and build things from blueprint mode and navigate the UI learned how to do those things by starting up the campaign and playing through the tutorial. Morpheus from the Matrix isn't going to come along and download the ability to do these things directly into your brain, Neo.
