Here's a table showing the material cost of upgrading items. The quality upgrades are uniformly 1 for armour and 3 for weapons (carbon/nickel/tungsten/platinum).
The armour is per item, so five times what's there for a complete set.
Big weapons are Atgeir, Dane Axe, Great Sword, Spear, Scythe. Not Heavy Shield, though.
Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

@spirantcrayon22 Nice table. You mentioned Heavy Shields, but aren’t all shield types not considered weapons anyway?
@thenorfolkian
in terms of materials needed to upgrade, "weapon" items are separated in 2 categories : one handed, 2 handed, all bows and all shields are in the one handed
@SpirantCrayon22
Yes, they're weapons, the point is that I sort-of expected them to be classed as "big" (2-handed) weapons.
same for me
@thenorfolkian
Thanks. Yes, they're weapons, the point is that I sort-of expected them to be classed as "big" (2-handed) weapons.
@azullfr
Yes, that's right about the bows and shields, the listed categories are the only 2-handed ones.
@spirantcrayon22 Oh yeah, I see what you mean. That’s an unusual observation given that Heavy Shields do indeed handle like big two-handed weapons, even though they’re still one-handed.
