My issue got resolved. I had an unofficial mod installed, that caused the problem, because the mod was not updated for the new version yet. I completly forgot about the mod; kind of embarrassing. Its my own fault.

Resolved. For me too it was mod. Deleted files with extension .fat in folders far cry 6\data_final\pc\.... and verified the game files.

@ubi-thrupney Well, what do you know. I had two mods installed. I deleted the data file folder and now the game loads and functions. Just wish I wasn't stuck with 50 degree fov while on horseback. Thanks for the help!

"problem" SOLVED!
After uninstalling the outdated modifications, the game works as it should. Therefore, I feel obligated to apologize to Ubisoft, for misleading me about the problems associated with the game turning on after update 5. I'm sorry, I just like many probably forgot about the modification to disable chromatic aberration. 

Same thing happening to me. Opened up a ticket and never heard back. No mods installed. Tried everything - verified files, updated drivers as needed, uninstalled and reinstalled game, restarted laptop. Sent tons of crash reports. I've been trying to get the game to start about 10-15 times daily now and can never get past the continue game loading screen where it shows the new Stranger Things loading menu.. I am so upset and feel defeated.

@mikeybikey56 I'm having the same issue, after the update the game always crashes at start

My game (on PC) loads and allows me to select "continue game", but then crashes to desktop after about 2 seconds of showing a "Stranger Things" splash screen.

Update - I managed to get it to work. My video settings were already at the max for my card (was getting a “low vram” warning but still working. The update must cause a higher load. I had to reduce the video settings down to a lower level and it worked.
