So, FSR 2.0 is around the corner and it's looking great so far: https://gpuopen.com/fidelityfx-superresolution-2/: (https://gpuopen.com/fidelityfx-superresolution-2)

I don't know why the first iteration wasn't implemented, with first of all this game being an AMD-sponsored title, while it would also have benefitted performance greatly.
Perhaps it didn't look good enough? - Maybe it's not that compatible with Anvil? - Who knows?

But version 2.0, while a little more demanding and perhaps a little more involved to implement, looks very impressive between its different modes.
While with 1.0 you could barely justify using the "performance" mode, as it just looked way too blurry, there's very little difference between the modes in 2.0.

Considering "Valhalla" is rather demanding and very prone to stutters and such, it can use all the help it can get to preserve its otherwise great visuals.
The only global setting to reduce the load significantly without changing the visuals would be the scaling, but even one bump down to 90% makes it only just acceptable, as it's actually rather destructive.
I've done that while running at 1620p, which (90%) actually brings it close to 1440p, but it's way blurrier than just running 1440p natively (which I can only do since the most recent Radeon-update).

In any case, please, Ubisoft Montreal, seriously consider implementing this now that you're still working on this game.
It would benefit the game and its players a lot, especially those who have weaker GPUs (though I hope FSR 2.0 will also support pre-5000 GPUs eventually).
Even if it's FSR 1.0, that could already help a lot in quality-mode. - But now that 2.0 is almost here, it's a new chance to jump on board.

It would very much be appreciated!

Also, thanks to Daniel Owen for reporting on this and explaining it a bit more:

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
