After downloading the new Seeds of Change DLC, the animated cursor in Anno 1800 is ridiculously oversized anytime I hover over the UI / tools

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

@cell_o7 yes mine too... How can it be smaller again?

Hello everyone, thank you for letting us know of this animated cursor issue.

I have yet to install the new DLC, if possible, could one of you upload a screenshot of the bigger cursor so I can check this as a comparison against my non-updated pre Seeds of Change version of the game?

I get the same oversized animated mouse cursor. Small normal cursor and when hovering over houses, menus etc it changes to a larger icon, while also losing resolution (the icon is slightly blurry, not as crisp as the normal size one) The icon changes to an oversized rotating icon when trying to rotate the angle or an oversized magnifying glass icon when trying to zoom. I will try to submit screenshots. Please fix this, I lost the will to play this game with the constant oscillation...

Funny thing, the mouse cursor would not show in the screenshot, so I had to take pictures of the screen with another device. I will upload now

the resolution on my screen is 5120x1440. This is a portion of the screen. If I were to estimate, I would say the cursor quadruples in size from the normal cursor.

That is brilliant @LynxEy3 thank you for going to that effort in order to capture this cursor increase.

I have seen a few other players mention this new cursor size in the forums and how it can be distracting. I will feed this back to our Anno team and use your image for comparison, than you very much for taking the time to do that.

@ubi-milky Any news when this will get fixed? I am guessing it is a minor effort to fix the bug. In game though, it is more than a distraction, as it is difficult to select, demolish roads and reroute. Because of the large size, it is easy to missclick and demolish buildings by mistake. Until this gets fixed, I have put the game on ice. I hope this will get fixed so I can enjoy the complete edition and all the dlc for this year that I preordered. The game is good, and one of the few to captivate me and it would be a shame to have to give it up. Thank you

Thanks for reaching out @lynxey3 , I'm afraid we don't have any further information on this at the moment, nor do we have a date for an expected fix.

This is still being looked into by the game team though, so hopefully we'll have some news in the future, in which case we'll keep you in the loop here.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused and if there's anything more we can help with in the meantime, please let us know!

@Ubi-TheBerry if anyone is still interested, the problem seems to be related to the custom scaling of the screen in display settings. I had it at 200% as I have a large monitor. I set it at 100% (only while playing anno) and the cursor is of normal size now. So to fix, right click on the screen, go to "display settings" then "scale and layout" and find the settings that work for you (probably 100% size of text, apps and other items). This is on windows 10. Regardless, the game should be patched and this should be fixed by the developers. We should not use tricks and side roads to get the application to run correctly.

    Hey @LynxEy3,

I'm glad to hear you were able to fix the issue by changing the scaling of your screen! Thank you so much for sharing this workaround on our forums, where it will help other players encountering this issue 😊
