so i've been giving this some proper thought over the past few weeks with the news of a new game in the works, but i actually think they should just port the current gunsmith From BP and then add a few updates to the customization options for a more dynamic style.
the only things they really need to add are the following
    *Ability to change Handguards
*More Barrel Length options (that actually affect Range)
    *Ability to change Pistol Grips
    *Ability to change upper receivers

I've done some mock ups again, all using stuff that's currently in BP's gunsmith that could be easily updated,

One of the big things that still needs to be overhauled is the Weapon menu though for this to work at its best, instead of having 23 different Variants of the M4/416/516 etc. just have one blueprint for each, with a better choice of barrel lenghts, handguards, trigger options and pistol grips to choose from so that we can customize our weapon the way we want it.

the Caveat being that we cant then just change any of these things whenever we want in the game world, to change barrels or trigger options these are things that we should only do at a main base location. adding some planning though into your weapon layout and selection for each mission.

Also on a side note when it comes to weapon paints in the next game, i really hope they don't start giving us colours like pink's and blues when it comes to plain colours, same with just shrinking down the clothing camo's as most of them just don't look right instead give us paint jobs like this!

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

I fully wholehardly agree, this is how the gunsmith supposed to be for the next GR (Project Over I guess?)
You could turn any M4A1 into different one in AR-15 family, this same goes for AK family and such
And don't forget the additions from FS gunsmith, those are best one in GR franchise

Also, this forum doesn't support link embed images now. So, embed fail?
Edit: I forgor this one, I fixed the embed link image to be properly rendered

I completely agree. And I would much prefer rattlecan weapon paints, than real camo patterns.

These look cool, and serve the purpose.

@sandilands85 kind of similar to the idea that Ground branch is working to implement, I'd love for the next GR to have the shooting aspect of groundbranch, as the video I posted, everything is great, animations, recoil, the distance of the guns from the POV, allowing you to see everything around you and track moving targets in a firefight.
    As well as the customization.
If I could could groundbranch in WL open world with MGSV aí I'd be satisfied

@sandilands85 I agree on most of what you have you have wrote. I might add a few things.

-if we get an upper receiver assembly, that host, the bolt carrier group, charging handle, the ejection port, the dust cover (for AR15 style of system), the gas tube, the gas block, the barrel, the muzzle flash hider, the handguard/rail system. May be we should get a lower receiver assembly, wich contain the pistol grip, the trigger guard, magwel, bolt release and mag release, the forward assist as well as the fire selector. But, maybe, it would be too much.

I don't know how much it could be interesting in game (not much in my opinion) have a hand on those elements. For the magwell, for example, as on the 416 assault variant, it's slightly larger, making it easier to insert a mag. It could translate by reducing the mag change time (not by much). For dust cover, it may be just cosmetic, as there is no drastic benefit by changing it.

Maybe adding different mag styles/brands (magpul, obviously). Mag also have weight and potentially could influence weapon handling. But I guess this is another topic.

All in all, I think, you're right to consider only the upper receiver wich contains the most important, ballisticly speaking, parts (barrel, handguard/rail, muzzleflash hider).

About weapon paint, I sincerely don't have much to say, certainly the straight application of existing camo isn't a bad idea, but adding spay can camos would be nice too (a bit like you did or like in the above pictures).

Personally speaking of course, I believe that there is too much emphasis placed on colors, which is ok but I rather they make the priority having authentic (gaming wise) weapon ergos, bullet drop, tracers, weight, recoil, etc, etc and then make the effort to come up with color variations.

I only say this because UBI tends to confuse asking for things like this with... OH, ok, they only care for Eye Candy and the outcome is Breakpoint.

    Don't mind me, continue.
