I kept my WT5 character (not sure why) as-is, and have a Level 40 character.

I haven't used my WT5 character in a while and decided to load it up today to see what items i had. I got another Sweet Dreams shotgun (i had deleted the one before because i didn't know how to work the system by then) and so i decided to try and optimize it and realized that feature isn't even available on that character.

    My question is, Why not?

Is there any game breaking mechanic or other good reason as to why my WT5 character cannot optimize gear and weapons?

It literally means, stuck with what they give you for non-exotic items. I know i can re-roll the exotic stuff provided i have enough exotic parts to do so, but for non-exotic gear, i can only do one improvement at the bench and that's it.

This seems a unfair for the sake of being unfair to be honest. I get they want to sell DLC, but honestly, are there even any Division owners that DON'T have the DLC yet? I'd imagine the vast majority of Division owners already have it. So why does this barrier still exist?

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
