  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

Hmmm, all warriors went to Valhalla? And here I was thinking that Freya and Odin split them with half going to Folkvangr.

@gehenna27 Theres a ton of inaccuracies in the game. For example, the setting for the games starting events are that you move over to England as part of the Great Heathen Army. However, the DLC Siege on Paris occurs 20 years before the Great Heathen Army. So, either Eivor will have to go back in time by 20 years to undertake the events of the DLC, or they shifted events around to make the story more exciting. Further to this, there are many pieces of art in the game that depict Scandinavian staves, but staves came after the events of this game.

At the end of the day, you have to allow the developers some creative freedoms in order to make a really enjoyable experience for the player. Odds are things won't be perfect, and from what we've seen of the game so far, they aren't perfect, but I appreciate that they tried their best to balance true to life history with an engaging story for the player to experience.

The Siege of Paris dlc is about the 885-886 siege during the reign of Charles the Fat. No shifting of events required to show that.
