As of Update 1.0.2, these are the things I've encountered in my game:
There seems to be a memory-leak related performance drop after commencing dialogue in the first big town (Stargavr or whatever it's called), after which the game's whole frame rate drops to 20% of what it was.
Also, there have been reports of even the highest-end systems having trouble running this game as expected. This launch seems to be even more unoptimized than RDR2's release on pc. Please look into it, there has to be a way to increase performance across the board. No way in hell Rdr2 looks and flows better on my pc and runs twice as good... There must be something wrong with Valhalla's optimization...
Three things I've noticed about combat:
For one, there is a distinct lack of controller rumble and camera shake for many of the connecting hits on an enemy. In other words, many attacks feel bland and harbor little to no impact when performed... Surprisingly Origins beats this game in terms of weighty impact, at least as of now. Secondly, same goes for the bow gameplay: shooting an arrow feels lackluster for some reason, I can't quite describe it but the way Eivor releases a shot lacks... feeling.
The worst thing I've noticed though has to be the DODGING! My lord it feels so weird and out of place. The character skates like the flash, the animation is twice as fast as any other that the character does and it breaks any immersion, it HAS to be toned down...please.
All in all the animation needs a lot of work, the flow between animations especially. The game overall feels choppy and unfinished, Origins felt and still feels twice as fluid and polished on this department and this is frankly insulting.
Quite a rocky start, can't say I'm satisfied and I hope these issues get fixed soon.
