@durrf Well, that's a shame. However, thank you very much for your answer!

Yesterday I even tried to reduce my GPU Clock Speed by 100 MHz (ASUS RTX 3080 TUF OC). That did not change anything regarding the crashes.
My last attempt will be to perform a clean Windows and AC Valhalla install. If that ist not going to solve problem, I'm done with the game.

Although my hopes aren't too high. I had a similar problem, when I was playing The Division 2 with an AMD 290x. I never had similar problems in other games however TD2 kept randomly crashing with an entry in event log, that watman stopped working. I was not able to solve that problem until I upgraded to a 5700 XT.

@sorry_dunno it has nothing to do with your hardware, the issue is wide spread, the game does something that causes drivers to crash, might be the game, drivers fault, or DX12 fault.
there are no workarounds or fix, older drivers dont crash as much as new ones but they still crash randomly.

i noticed that frequent crashes happen whn playing at the bottom left regions of the map, it crashes every 15-30 mins, in other areas its much less frequent. thats why you see crashing reports after playing 50 hours as you dont get to these regions until you are leveled up and match the required level per each.

Nvidia knows about these crashes and tried to fix and posted in multiple release notes about the fix, it but till today its not actually fixed.

@yazx_ I don't blame my hardware in the sense that I think that it's faulty. Otherwise I would see this behaviour in other games, too. But I believe, that it has to be a combination of a specific piece of hardware and this game which probably makes tracking down the cause of the issue a pain in the ...
Either way, it would be great to see this error on the known issues megathread.

@sorry_dunno I tried undervolting, overvolting, underclocking and overclocking too (MSI 3080 Ventus 3x OC for reference). Undervolting and underclocking appeared to give me the best results and allowed me to finish the game but I would still crash eventually. And similar to you, this is the only game that gives me any trouble.

    Other things I tried:

    • Reinstalled Valhalla several times and the Ubisoft Connect software
    • Tried different GPU driver versions using DDU each time
    • Disabled every background service I was able to
    • Set Valhalla to run as admin
    • Deleted Ubisoft cache folder
    • Created a virtual memory page file on the m2 drive where Valhalla was installed (At first I thought this was the winner because I lasted several days without a crash but then it started happening again)

And that's when I decided to power through the game, crashes and all, finish and delete it!

@durrf Thank you very much. I read your post while I was preparing my fresh Windows install. The last one was around the end of january so, as I already mentioned, my hopes weren't too high that this approach would eventually solve my problem.
Now I'm just going to do what apparently most of the poeple did who are affected by these kind of crashes. Either I have the nerves to accept the crashes or I'm just going to skip this game. And most likely it is the latter.

Ive been having the same crashing issue. ~30mins to 1hr gameplay and just CTDs.
Ive verified files, all good. Divers updated to latest. Hardware can run the game in ultra, but i run on high.

    CPU: i7-9700k
    RAM: 32gb (4x8gb)
    GPU: ASUS 2080 Ti
    Game install HDD: Corsair M.2
    Gameplay monitor: 3440x1440 @ 120Hz

Ive tried to submit a ticket via the support functions, but all it wants to do is "Start Chat", and that option is greyed out.
I have the MSinfo and DxDiag files, ive also looked into the event logs.

Im finding tons of "Game with process id 12076 disconnected."
Then the same second "Game with process id 12076 connected (API version: 2.3.0)"
Until the final few lines just say disconnected.

That's an error most likely caused by the Connect app losing the internet connection ..... I bet it happens at the same time it's making an autosave to the cloud

It's also most likely the reason people have so many "can't proceed with quest x" problems because if the autosaves are breaking then the save doesn't have data to show that portion of a quest has been completed and bang you are stuck ..... Every quest has a series of 'milestones' and when you complete one of the milestones it autosaves and puts that data in your save file so if it doesn't get written to the save then the game doesn't know that milestone has been completed so you get stuck there forever

So I got a brand new 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD and I have decided to reinstall Win 10 from scratch, all data erased as well and reinstalled Valhalla, so a fresh start.

Since then, I have been playing for a week without a single crash. I have clocked in over 25 hours in this 1 week. And I am able to play the game by fully OC'ing my 1060 6GB. I don't know what happened but the crashes are fixed for me for the time being. I am on latest drivers.

@sorry_dunno i've just had it with these TDRs, i rolled back to 442.19 driver (Feb 2020) with clean install and so far so good, to my surprise, these drivers work alot better than the new ones, i get higher FPS, if you are on 3000 series then you are out of luck as these drivers will not detect your graphics card.

I am another victim of this issue. Before the latest patch everything was fine. Could play for hours without any issue. After the patch I get these crashes from 5 to 20 minutes or so into the game. It's completely random. I also checked the logs and I see this:

After every crash I check the log and can see that the game is always connected/disconnected. This seems to work. But if the game gets 4 or 5 disconnected in a row then it crashes.

    This is SO annoying.

Some time ago, it was doing this, I deleted the logs and had to do a windows update. It worked fine for a few days, then it came back again. I see people sharing here all sort of "solutions". I think that none of this works. This is some other issue related to the game's connection to ubisoft's servers. I don't think that there's much that we can do until they fix this.
It would be great if someone from ubisoft could come here and say something: "we are aware of this but could not find a solution yet", "we know what to do and it will be fixed in the next patch", "this is not something that you can fix with drivers or other setting, it's on our side" to spare us the time...some answer would be nice.

I am also now getting the crash bug. Has happened twice now. Once when I opened the map. The other I was just running around a town when it happened. Never crashed once in Odyssey.

That's 3+ months with no fix then, even after they acknowledged the problem early February in the official response in this thread.

Has anyone tried changing ingame refresh rate (lets say from 144 to 120hz) or reinstalling the game to see if that helped?

@skylinee87 Reinstalling OS from scratch fixed it for me.

I found solution for my CTD crashes. I set every exe in ubisoft folder to run as admin and added ubisoft directory to whitelist in my AV and firewall - now i'am able to play for a few hour without single crash.

I was able to play for over 1 hour without crashing since the latest patch (as opposed to 15-30 minutes), so fingers crossed.
