I am pleased to say that TU 1.3.0 introduced fixes for two different issues with the "Firing the Arrow" quest! These were that the NPC with the coin didn't spawn, and that when completing the Arrow's challenge, the targets did not appear. You should no longer encounter either of these issues when completing this quest.
If you do find that the issue relating to the missing NPC with the coin persists since the latest title update, it would be appreciated if you could provide us with a video demonstrating the following, so that we can forward this to the developers and reopen the investigation into the respective issues:
- You have the latest title update (1.3.0) installed (you can check the game version from the menu)
- You are unable to locate the NPC with the coin
Thank you all for your patience and understanding while these issues were investigated and resolved. I'll mark this thread as resolved now, as the issue it concerns is considered resolved, but we will be happy to reopen the investigation if it should be necessary. Thanks!
@wolfdragneel - Welcome to Discussions! I am sorry to hear that you are struggling to complete "Firing the Arrow". It sounds like you may be stuck on a slightly different part of the quest to that which this megathread is for, as you have not mentioned being unable to acquire the coin to take part in the challenge, but rather that after completing the challenge and talking to the NPC, the quest does not progress. If this is correct, could you please open a new thread for the issue you are having and we can investigate further with you there? It would be best to keep this thread specifically for the issue with NPCs not granting the coins to take part in the Arrow's recruitment challenge. Thanks!
Thank you for continuing to share your experiences with "Firing the Arrow," as well as your feedback with the ongoing investigation. The development team is still looking into this quest further, which is why it was not included in TU 1.2.0. We currently have no new updates to share from the investigation. Once we have any new information available, it will be posted within this thread and within the News & Announcements forum.
The development team are still looking to collect the save files from affected players. If you play on PC/PS4, please would you be able to open a support ticket and submit your saves for investigation.

@ubi-borealis hi! I updated my case with this and a picture of my whereabouts:
Hi! I scoured Lunden a little more with Odins sight, and I found that it still popped up two blue quest-signs at the temple of Mithras even though I’m finished there. It’s the “Liber Antiquae Deorum” paper and another, now unclickable, note at the desk there. (And the key from Octavians quest to the guy who stole his statue still pops up, unclickable if there is any correlation) Hope this helps!
Do any of you other guys have the same “glitch”? Maybe it’s connected?

@jeffiroth311 I'm incredibly sorry that we do not have any further updates we can share on this issue right now, but please rest assured the teams are doing their best to address the various bugs that have been reported to them, including this one. Updates will be shared here as soon as we have any new information.

In the part of the mission where you have to find a coin for the contest there's nothing, I've watched just about every video on youtube and nothing shows up in my game. Ive restarted the game a dozen times and even left to do other missions and every time i try to redo the misson same thing

@ubi-woofer was so fed up that i didn't play for two months...newst patch didn't solve the probkem...tried to copy save games to usb...didn't work with the first device...second...nope. sorry, i tried to help even though it's not my job. even though i got a product which is not what i've paid for...
but right now, i don't really care summer is comig, the next time i'll play will be october, maybe then there is a patch. if i am REALLY fortunate...

@hanax2020 Hey there, and apologies for the continued aggravation caused by the error with the NPCs with coins not spawning during this quest. Currently, this issue remains under investigation, but we sincerely appreciate your continued patience and understanding throughout this process.
I encountered a problem with the quest "Firing the arrow", Ubisoft listed this problem as fixed with Patch 1.2.1 if I remember correctly, but it is still in the game. The quest mobs just won't spawn, Stowe won't walk over to the church, he just stands at the market asking me if I already have the coin (Which I haven't since the enemies won't spawn) and the questtext is empty (I have the quest title and that's it). I have no older save for this, I could restart the whole campaign but since this would delete the whole progress (I did every other area, collected early everything and I'm in the middle of the DLC) I would like to not do that.
Is there any way to fix this problem?

I'm sorry to hear that you're encountering trouble with "Firing the Arrow." Thank you for sharing your report with us. To my knowledge, this issue is still under investigation and wasn't included in TU 1.2.1. I apologise for any confusion that has been caused.
We don't yet have any new information to share from the development team regarding the missing NPC. If possible, would you be able to send us a video that shows the NPC that has the coins is missing for you in-game? The developers are still interested in collecting these videos as part of the ongoing investigation. Additionally, can you please ensure that you have an up-to-date save uploaded to the cloud? We can then notify the development team of this so they can take a closer look.
I got an up-to-date savegame in the cloud and can post a video if you tell me where to upload it.
Btw. is there a chance you could just set this queststep to "done"? Or is there like a tool so I could do it myself? Really don't bother finishing this 1 quest anymore, I just want to see the end rest of the game already
Thanks for letting me know you've uploaded a cloud save, @Kiljael! The best way to share a video with us is to first upload it to a sharing platform, such as YouTube or Google Drive, and then to send an unlisted link within this thread.
The developers have confirmed that they have no plans to introduce a "Restart Quest" feature:
Due to the structure of quests within the game, a "reset/restart quest" feature is not feasible at this stage of development. While some quests and world events allow you to walk away or reload your save in order to reset them, this is not the case for every instance within Valhalla. We strongly recommend regularly adding manual saves, especially before and after pivotal moments, to ensure you have backup states to revert to if needed.
I understand that this may not be the answer you were hoping for, and apologise for any disappointment caused. Rest assured that the development team are looking into what could potentially be causing this issue further. Once we have any new updates to share from the investigation, they will be posted within this thread.

Game ruined for me. Only real solution for me would be a refund. What a waste of time! Never again will I buy from Ubisoft.
