    I enjoy completing the areas and exploring everywhere, but it's not very rewarding when skill points are awarded so fast that I'm in Lunden at 150 where I should be around 90. Why give skill points so fast that completionists are punished for going through all the content? Now I can just power my way through everything instead of engaging with the mechanics. I honestly wish there was some level scaling or that zones and quests your power level is too far above gave less experience. Seems like this is something that should have been considered since a huge chunk of AC fans enjoy the grindy aspect of the games. I'm sure I'll keep enjoying the game anyway with it set to the harder difficulty, but leveling is pretty much broken for me since I would rather turn experience off for a while and let the game catch up to me rather than have the gap increasing further and further.

    I do like Valhalla a lot, but this is going to annoy me for the whole game and it's weird that it's like this considering previous AC games and The Witcher 3 had solutions for it. I'd rather not have a godlike character until endgame.

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

    @mangybasterd I would like to see an option which you allows to set the powerlevel of the NPCs to your powerlevel like in the ACs before. I had the most fun playing when I sneaked into bases with opponents marked with skulls and would therefore also like an option that allows us to increases the power level of the NPCs by X levels compared to the player level so that it is challenging in the late game

    Refund your skill points. That will de-rate your characters power in various aspects. Sounds like that could be an easy fix for you.

    This. Took me some restraint to not spend all my points and get the cool skills sooner but limiting myself to stay close to recommended power level has made it better overall. That and I don’t worry about the best gear or matching sets to my favored skill tree, I just pick what I like looks of or bonus on. Wearing pieces of 3 sets right now.

    @kizza0721 That is a really good idea, actually. I'll try only adding skill points up the power levels of the area I'm in and hopefully not worry about it. I still don't like that the game lets you progress to almost double an areas power level by doing all the available content. There should be an upward curve at a certain point. Though I guess people would just complain about that too.

    Yep agree. I know you are not alone with the wish to up-scale all enemies to match your power level all the time. But the quick fix is simply reset your skill points and only use as many as the area recommends. Not perfect, but better then completing a level 50 area with level 180.

    @aloninor how do u reset the skill-points?

  • MangyBasterd
    Original poster 12 posts

    @lord_warpgun You should be able to by going into your skills and holding Y or Triangle.

    @mangybasterd Thanks will try it out later today 🙂 finally i can play the game again without feeling like a overpowered norse god

    This should be sticky im so glad i found out that you can reset the skill points, now i'm having a blast in the game again instead of 1 shot everything, i need to use some tactics and stealth in battle.

    @mangybasterd I can understand your issue but many do not play that way. The game is designed for all not just the few that are completeist. That should always be the price you pay for being a completeist. Only solution is level scaling and it was in Odessey, is it not for valhalla?

    Leveling scaling is not in the game anymore. I do understand that going through all the content will make your character more powerful, but being twice the power level as your enemies (which I am now) seems a bit excessive. Only giving yourself enough skill points for the zone you're in does work, but it feels like a design flaw because it kind of is one.

    I'm only asking for scaling like Odyssey had or a limit on how much exp zones/events you're too far above give kind of like The Witcher 3. Neither of those would affect normal players.

    @mangybasterd give Ubi some time. It is a game as a service, they will keep workring on the game and improve it over the time. Things linke "level scaling" were implemened in the latest AC games over the time. I think after they have patched the bugs, and problems that keeps players from playing the game, they will move on to issues such as level scaling.

    @mangybasterd I rather be overleveled then underleveled. How did you manged to get so many skill points so fast? Died so many times against that boss in Norway before getting to England that had to force to do more exploring and killing animals for XP just to get more skill points to kill the boss.

    Currently stuck in England at power level 111, cannot progress, cannot kill those order bosses. Some of those bosses are just impossible to defeat at power level 111. (at power level 111 they were Elite Green/Yellow).

    Wish there was more info on about the skill trees, went blue. But blue seems weak in the melee dept. So doing both blue and red.

    Thx

    @aetheogh

    Well, there are three level 90 areas in the game so if you clear them all you'll likely be over 160 before you're done. And yeah, red is focused on melee so if that's your playstyle it's best to start there.

    @mangybasterd Hmm Odd that, did cleared all 3 level 90 areas in England and ended up with power level 111. So how did you get to power level 160?

    So should have started Norway with Red tree only? What power level did you end up in Norway before killing that Boss just before heading to England?

    @aetheogh You built the seers hut as well? Now I'm starting to wonder if I've accidently found an exploit. I've done almost 100% on all the areas, with exceptions being bugged out quests and bosses that were too high. And actually, I counted East Anglia as a 90 area when it's a 55, so I'm 160 and I have an entire 90 area left to do. I'll likely be 200 when I finish Oxenfordscire because I have barely touched it so far.

    @mangybasterd Could difficulty level be a factor in earning XP? Started out on Easy Difficultly. Do not think it is a exploit. Norway, explored around, killing stuff, farming ore and leathers so can upgrade gear, got powerlevel to 30 and went yellow to take down the final boss. (went with 2 axes, axe + shield did not work against that boss).

    Building seer hut first gives out a xp buff?, I built that after Lundun, never noticed any xp buff.

    @aetheogh No xp buff from the seer just the quest which I did before the other areas, I did get 5 skill points for collecting all the treasure during that though. Maybe it is the difficulty, I started on normal and switched to hard once I had too many levels. Can't remember what I left Norway at, probably around 25 or 30 though because I did everything and farmed ore as well. I'm also playing on Ubisoft Connect so maybe there's a bonus associated with that.

    @mangybasterd Hmm getting the impression that easy difficulty = less xp then normal difficulty. Will have to try a new character start and try that route.
