    Hello there!

I'd like to reach out to you all with an update. I'm happy to announce that the development team intend to deploy a several fixes for "Brewing Rebellion" in TU 1.2.2. This update will be deployed 15 June, 2021 at 2 PM CEST / 8 AM ET. The list of fixes includes the following:

    • The door to the longhouse in Buckingham cannot be forced open
    • Quest NPCs, such as Basim and Sigurd, cannot be interacted with
    • The Thegns are not registered as rescued after they are freed
    • Objective marker appears off-map during the "escort the thegns to safety" objective
    • "Secure the Longhouse" is not marked as completed

If you are still encountering issues with "Brewing Rebellion" following TU 1.2.2, please don't hesitate to update this thread so we can take a closer look. Please include a video that shows the following:

    • You have the latest Title Update installed on your platform. You can view this information in the opening game menu in the bottom right-hand corner.
    • The issue you're experiencing in-game following this update.

Additionally, please ensure that you have an up-to-date save uploaded to the cloud. We can then pass these reports to the development team for further investigation.

    Thank you! 😊

I have a problem where the quest wont proceed after I've rescued the thegns. They follow me to the place near the river but then nothing happens. The quest mark moved to the north outside of the world map.

@bklyn_pepper Exact same problem for me.

I am having a lot of trouble with the Brewing Rebellion quest. I’m stuck on the “Escort the thegns to safety” part of the quest. When I get to the marker near the edge of the river after freeing all the thegns, the map marker relocates to extremely far north when viewed in the map menu, impossible to get to.

I’ve completed other quests, fast travelled, reloaded old saves, and nothing fixes this bug. I’ve progressed as far as I can in the main quest and now I’m stuck here.

I hope this is fixed soon, I’ll be putting the game down until I know I can progress without losing hours of game play, or worse, starting over.

    I’m playing on Playstation 5.

@blackwidowsport I've been having the same problem since they released the "River Raids" patch.

I was midway through this quest when the patch was released, when I returned to my save game, the quest marker was missing!!!
The two NPCs really didn't follow me through the town to the door, and wouldn't assist opening.

I tried the "workaround" by getting another NPC and then coming back, which actually worked!! The door opened, but no cutscene triggered!
Now I just have a buggy quest (main questline - 50% of the game completed with no way to continue) - no quest marker, the door is open, and no way to continue on the main quest line.

Can we just get a way to "self-serve" these kinds of bugs, like reset a quest?

The Ubisoft help solution was "did you go back to a previous save"? Well, since the patch overwrote my save file, and now everything is bugged - that's not really an option for me.

I have one save file (a 3rd backup) but that was many, many hours behind this quest.... I don't really feel like replaying a ton of game content.

Anyone know if there is a patch coming for this bugged quest?

    Hello everyone,

Thank you for all of your latest updates to this thread. I'll provide an overview of the issues we are investigating / have resolved below; please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns you may have about anything written in my post, or otherwise.

    • The door to the longhouse in Buckingham cannot be forced open
      • Status: Resolved as of TU 1.1.1.
      • Comments: This issue should be resolved as of TU 1.1.1. If you are still unable to force open the door to the Buckingham longhouse, please can you send us a video that shows this in-game within this thread? We can then pass this along to the development team for a closer look.
    • Objective marker appears off-map during the "escort the thegns to safety" objective
      • Status: Under Investigation
      • Comments: If you find that your objective marker when completing this objective appears outside of the map, please let us know if anything unusual happened when completing the previous objective, if you completed any world events / other activities before heading to complete this objective, or if you interacted with any NPCs. It would also be helpful if you could open a support ticket and submit your save for investigation.
    • "Secure the Longhouse" is not marked as completed
      • Status: Under Investigation
      • Comments: The developers would like to collect videos of this issue occurring. We are also collecting affected save files for the developers to use as part of the investigation. If you play on PC/PS4, please open a support ticket and submit your save for investigation. The developers advise to try reloading a previous manual save in order to progress past this issue in the meantime.
    • Quest NPCs, such as Basim and Sigurd, cannot be interacted with
      • Status: Resolved as of TU 1.2.0.1
      • Comments: This issue should be resolved as of TU 1.2.0.1. If you are still struggling to speak to quest NPCs currently, please provide a video demonstrating this so that we can forward this to the developers and reopen the investigation into this issue. Thank you.
    • The Thegns are not registered as rescued after they are freed
      • Status: Under Investigation
      • Comments: We are collecting images of the issue, videos of the issue as well as affected save files for the developers to use as part of their ongoing investigation. If you play on PC/PS4, please open a support ticket and submit your save file for investigation. It would also be helpful to know whether you have been trying to complete "Brewing Rebellion" all in one go, or if you strayed from an objective and returned to it later.

@amplevoyage6478 & @Reebokily - Are you able to provide a short video demonstrating that you cannot progress due to having previously freed the thegn before starting the quest? Which platform do you play on as well please?

@mortimus27 - Your Twitter account appears to be private so we're unable to view the video you tried to link us to before. Do you have the ability to provide this video elsewhere, such as via Google Drive or YouTube?

@Bklyn_Pepper, @Lak_1658, @ElliottSpl1ff - Please refer to my instructions above for the new issue reported whereby the quest marker is outside the map at the point of escorting the thegns to safety. Thank you!

@the_wolf_77 - Can you please confirm the issue you are having? Is it that you have opened the door to the longhouse, but that the cutscene within has not triggered? Which NPC did you use to help force open the door? In terms of a "reset quest" functionality, this is not available in Valhalla however I am happy to forward your feedback that you think it could be valuable. Finally, reloading a previous save would be a good troubleshooting step to perform. A title update does not overwrite/change your save files themselves, only you can overwrite those with new saves, so please let me know what you mean by this in your post and I'll do my best to help and clarify for you. Thanks!

"Objective marker appears off-map during the "escort the thegns to safety" objective" - Still stuck with the same issue ... no progress from your side over 2 weeks.
What's the point encouraging opening bugs if you automatically close them after 4 days due to "inactivity". [censored]?
Add some kind of "active quest reset" option by doing some action in game and save us the time and frustration!

@ubi-woofer You say that interacting with Sigurd and Basim has been resolved yet my quest for brewing rebellion tells me to find and speak to Sigurd.

I locate Sigurd and I am unable to interact with him.

you recently fixed the cloud save feature that wasn’t working for me so I have even tried going from the PS4 to the PS5 and still can’t interact with Sigurd.

undefinedCustomer support are unable to provide assistance except to follow this thread and now the thread is saying the problem is resolved when it isn’t.

    • The Thegns are not registered as rescued after they are freed
      • Status: Under Investigation
      • Comments: We have had some reports that this issue has been resolved for players following TU 1.2.1. If this issue has been resolved for you, please don't hesitate to let us know. If you are still affected by this issue, rest assured that the development team is still investigating this further. They are interested in collecting additional videos and save files from affected players. If you play on PC/PS4, please open a support ticket and submit your save file for investigation. It would also be helpful to know whether you have been trying to complete "Brewing Rebellion" all in one go, or if you strayed from an objective and returned to it later.

@Bklyn_Pepper & @djushi - Thank you for letting us know that the issue has been resolved for you following TU 1.2.1.

@mortimus27 - Thanks for making the video public for us! I can see that this video was made 23 March, 2021, which was before TU 1.2.0.1 was released. Just to confirm, are you still unable to interact with Sigurd and Basim following this update? If so, would you be able to provide us with a new video that shows the following:

    • You have TU 1.2.1 installed on your platform. You can check this in the bottom-right of the main game menu.
    • You're still unable to interact with the quest NPCs.

@Goboffwill2021 - I'm sorry to hear that "Brewing Rebellion" isn't proceeding after you have secured the long house. Would you be able to send us a video that shows you've cleared the long house of enemies, but you're unable to proceed with the quest? We can then include this in your report to the development team.

@Boneman1976 - I'm sorry to hear you're unable to interact with Sigurd and Basim following TU 1.2.0.1. Please would you be able to provide a video that shows you're still unable to interact with these NPCs? We can then pass this along to the development team for a closer look.

    Thanks! 😊
