Looks like the latest patch to Ubisoft Connect fixed it for the most part. I had only one disconnect in one of the menus. Before that the gamepad disconnected while going into the skill tree - it does not happen now.

The X, Y, A, and B buttons will stop working with 2 different XBox Controllers either by BlueTooth or Wired when running River Raids. All the other buttons seem to work, but X, Y, A, & B are by far the most important. This can happen 30 to 60 minutes into the raid.

I have a little different problem with my XBox Controllers used on my PC. Both controllers when used on River Raids in AC Valhalla will surprise me during battles with the X, Y, A, B buttons not functioning. All other buttons work, I can run, watch my allies die around me, but I can't administer aid, I can't defend myself, or attack and the very worst is I can't get away and save my progress in the raid.

After starting three failed raids last night, Jomsvinkings will shy away from joining me, my current ones will mutiny. Worst yet, I can't raise an arm to defend myself.

    Hello there,

I apologise for the delayed response. Thank you for continuing to update this thread with your reports and experiences regarding your Xbox One / Series X|S controllers disconnecting whilst playing Assassin's Creed: Valhalla on PC. The development team are still investigating this issue further. I've added the reports that have been shared here to the ongoing investigation so the development team can take a closer look at these.

If you haven't already, please can you try these basic PC troubleshooting steps and ensure that your controller drivers are fully up-to-date. This will help to establish that there are no other background causes to the issue (such as conflicting software).

If you are having trouble with connecting your controller to the game, please can you provide us with all of the following information in the following format:

    • What's the exact model of the controller you are using?
    • Does the issue only occur on Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, or on other games as well?
    • Does the controller only disconnect while in-game or also in the menus?
    • Is your control input method set to exclusively controller, or hybrid?
    • Do you have any other bluetooth devices or input devices connected at the same time while playing? Have you tested with these disconnected?
    • If connecting the controller(s) to your PC with a wire, do the issues persist, or are they resolved?

@Husain-87 - If you're encountering trouble with your controller in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, we'd recommend posting in the dedicated forums for this game.

@abostaca - I'm sorry to hear you've been charged twice. If you purchased the game from the Ubisoft Store, I would recommend opening a support ticket so our team can investigate this further.

    Thank you! 😊

    @ubi-borealis
I am also having those issues. I did play the game from the start and the problem with connection was always there, now it is much more frequent and the game is not playable at all.
I am using a Xbox One X controller (the newest model available )
The problem occurs only with ubisoft connect on. I just checked multiple other games and the controller works ok, no disconnects
The controller keeps disconnecting already in the main menu making the game unplayable
It is a rodeo, disconets seconds after I ALT TAB to game in menu and keeps it on a loop , connects disconnects all the time. When I ALT TAB to the desktop the controller stays connected , it disconnects and connects in short periods when I switch back do in game main menu
I chosen the xbox controller method
I do have bluetooth speakers connected , I tried playing with headphones (with the bluetooth speakers off) It does not change anything I updated my onboard intel bluetooth driver to a newest version, I removed the controller from connected list and paired it again. This did not help either
The moment I connect Xbox controller with cable everything works just fine. No sudden disconnects. But obviously I do not want to play in cable mode, my cable is very short and I like sitting all way back on my couch connected to a tv
Please do something about it, it is very frustrating , I was waiting for a new game add on and now when it is out, I can not play it.

    Adrian.

    • What's the exact model of the controller you are using?
      • Xbox Series X controller
    • Does the issue only occur on Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, or on other games as well?
      • Just AC Valhalla
    • Does the controller only disconnect while in-game or also in the menus?
      • In game and in the menus
    • Is your control input method set to exclusively controller, or hybrid?
      • I've tried both
    • Do you have any other bluetooth devices or input devices connected at the same time while playing? Have you tested with these disconnected?
      • No other bluetooth devices connected.
    • If connecting the controller(s) to your PC with a wire, do the issues persist, or are they resolved?
      • Issue resolves when using the wire, but I don't want to use the wire. Bluetooth drivers and Windows Updates are all up to date.

    Hello there!

@culanamo/Adrian - Thank you for sharing your report with us, and for providing us with all of the requested information. I've passed on your report to the development team so it can be used as part of the ongoing investigation.

I understand that using a wired connection is not ideal for your set-up. Rest assured that the development team are investigating what could potentially be causing this issue for players further. Once we have any new updates to share from the investigation, we will let you all know within this thread as soon as we are able to.

@Raging_Beard - Just to confirm, are you encountering this issue with Assassin's Creed: Valhalla too? If so, can you provide us with all of the following information:

    • What's the exact model of the controller you are using?
    • Does the issue only occur on Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, or on other games as well?
    • Does the controller only disconnect while in-game or also in the menus?
    • Is your control input method set to exclusively controller, or hybrid?
    • Do you have any other bluetooth devices or input devices connected at the same time while playing? Have you tested with these disconnected?
    • If connecting the controller(s) to your PC with a wire, do the issues persist, or are they resolved?

We can then pass your report along to the developers for a closer look.

@Nateks0492 - Thank you for such a detailed report, and for including additional images/videos for the team to take a closer look at! I've forwarded your report to the development team so they can include it in their ongoing investigation.

    Thanks! 😊
