I'd like to reach out to you all with an update. I'm happy to announce that the development team intend to deploy several fixes in regards to fishing in TU 1.2.2. This update will be deployed 15 June, 2021 at 2 PM CEST / 8 AM ET. The team are deploying a fixes for the following issue:
- Addressed an issue that prevented players from catching fish from a small boat.
- Addressed various issues with Ubisoft Core Challenges unlocking (Stinky but Deadly)
If you are still encountering trouble with either of these issues following TU 1.2.2, please don't hesitate to update this thread so we can take a closer look. Please include a video that shows the following:
- You have the latest Title Update installed on your platform. You can view this information in the opening game menu in the bottom right-hand corner.
- The issue you're still encountering in-game (such as Stinky but Deadly remaining locked despite meeting the requirements).
Additionally, please ensure that you have an up-to-date save uploaded to the cloud. We can then pass these reports to the development team for further investigation.
I'd also like to provide you all with an update regarding the missing fish. Following TU 1.2.1, big flatfish / mackerel and small halibut / sturgeon were added to selected locations in-game. We have not yet had any new information about these fish being added into additional locations in TU 1.2.2. As the development team mentioned they intended to release a full fix for this issue in June in their Dev Blog, I have reached out to them for an update. As soon as we have any new information to share you about these missing fish, we will let you all know within this thread as soon as we are able to.
EDIT 15 June 2021, 15:10 UTC: The development team have reached out with an update about the repopulation of the missing fish. They should now be more widely available throughout the world for you to catch!
If you are still unable to find big flatfish/mackerel or small halibut/sturgeon whilst fishing in the world, please don't hesitate to reach out so we can investigate this further.
@ubi-woofer Hello, actually I spent many many days (more or less about 60 creed days) there (off the coast of Maeldun) and I can see only small and standard ones, I never found big ones ...never !
The only big flatfish I found is off the coast of Werham (where there are the only big bream I found too) but after that only one flatfish I can see a lot of strange things as the fish appear and after just few seconds they disappear, even with the calm sea, good weather and so on.
So, you answer, I regret to say, doesn't solve the issue.
@imaginaryruins You only need to catch one of each type of fish to earn the "Good Catch!" trophy - you don't need to have completed the full range of fishing hut challenges nor the hunter challenges to obtain the Platinum. The Swordfish Connect Challenge is limited to Ubisoft Connect only, and isn't associated with a trophy. So, if you make sure that you catch one of each type of fish, the "Good Catch!" trophy should pop for you. Regarding issues in my own game, I didn't encounter any progression-stopping bugs at any time, though I did glitch into my longship and later on a tree once each, and died because I couldn't free myself. I've submitted several of my own videos to the developers to help in their investigations for particular issues, including ones to do with fishing (but not the absence of the fish mentioned here). I haven't admittedly attempted to finish the fishing hut challenges myself yet, but it's something I'll be working on now in the post-game!
@VanadiumCobalt If I'm somehow lucky enough to find the needed fish despite the spawn issues under investigation I'll be sure to share the locations here. As is, I'm awaiting an update from the team just as you all are in order to get these challenges completed myself!
@m_scatterbrain Just to confirm, you were able to catch a big flatfish for definite off the coast of Werham? Are you able to provide a screenshot of where?

@ubi-woofer The issue is the Big versions of the Mackerel, Flatfish and Eel aren't spawning for people to be able to acquire the Swordfish from the fish monger in Ravensthorpe.
The small/regular variety of these three are plentiful, so getting the Good Catch! trophy isn't a problem.
@ubi-woofer I'm sorry ...I didn't write in a proper way that sentence likely. I recognized the big flatfish (because it's very simple to do that) but as soon as I tried I was unable to catch him; the fish started to run in a circle and above the boat....
I was able to catch one big bream and only one ... and this because the fish appear and disappear. Staying on the jetty you can only find small and standard bream, the big ones usually are a bit far away. Therefore I tried to go on the boat and I was able to catch just one big bream. I'm still missing 1 big bream,. the big flatfish and the big mackerels.
That place anyway is very simple to find: going down on the coast from Werham, there is a jetty and near that a small house. the boat (actually are more than one) is in front of the jetty.
here the snapshot
@Ubi-Woofer one update from my last fishing campaign. Spending many creed days and waiting a sunny and calm day I was able to catch 3 big bream in Folcanstan. In the past I tried the same many times without success.
So, the issue is related to big flatfish and big mackerels definitely.

So glad the floating boat in Vinland and Eivor's left-foot-forward glide were finally patched, because everyone from reddit to youtube comments was ready to throw the game disc in the paper shredder for how badly those broke the game.....
Now, how about fixing the damned ocean fish from despawning already? Big Flat, Mackerel, and Eel? Or what about fish falling off the map after killing them? 100+ bug fixes that make cyberpunk look polished, with many being so obscure most wouldn't even know they were in the game if it wasn't mentioned in the patch notes, and yet the 10's of thousands of people not able to finish a basic settlement quest after almost 3 months is incredibly pathetic. Since it's clearly such a serious bug that it can't even be prioritized after nearly 3 months (probably closer to 4 or 5 months now factoring in how long of a gap between patches and will be spring by next patch release) is utterly embarrassing. Add the damned fish to Reda, or another npc for sale, put them in one of the 4,975 loot containers that have literal junk in them, or gift them to us; do something and stop dragging butt like a dog with worms too cheap to see a vet....

2 month of this bugs that a lot of people in many forums in many country andBugisoft cannot solve this ??!!! this is more and more disapointing !!!
You make me hate this game and this license i usually loved thanks you verry much Ubisoft !!!!!!
@rogu3cowboy You can catch all fish for the Achievement and you can even find Big Cod in chests. The fish that are bugged and are not showing are Big Flat Fish, Big Mackerel and Big Eel. Use small boats in the bays.
Have a look at this thread https://discussions.ubisoft.com/topic/88816/unable-to-find-large-flatfish-mackerel-and-small-halibut-sturgeon-while-fishing-post-here/146?_=1610991113089 Hope this Helps.

Absolutely ridiculous.....136 hours put into this game and I’ve needed 1 fish (bream) for the last 3 weeks for the platinum trophy they show for a second and then disappear completely. I’ve tried everything people recommended. I’ve tried ALL the correct spots to get it. I’ve watched countless YouTube videos and nothing works it’s bugged.
I was hoping the latest patch fixed it but obviously not. It should be a simple fix so why it’s been ignored since release is beyond me.
@rogu3cowboy Are you fishing from the coast? if you know where they spawn use a boat and sail out 10/20 metres. Meditate on the boat for calm waters. I found most of mine this way as Odin's sight does not pick them up being so far out from the coast.
Same with fishing from piers, meditate, then wait for calm water, could take 15 minutes for this to happen. Also you might see a random guy just standing doing nothing on piers. When he picks his rod up fish usually do spawn.
Fishing a night is usually best and waiting after meditating for the sea to calm some. It's the waiting game that's the killer.
Thank you for your latest replies I'll address these individually below, but first, I just wanted to verify Outlander1982's previous information that small Sturgeon can be found near Rouecistre Fortress in Cent! I looked there myself last night, and was able to fish five small Sturgeon from the waters in order to fulfil the fishing hut task. I'll include screenshots below to hopefully help you all identify the fish you're looking for, and where you should look:
A great tip I picked up from reading these forums and other online resources is to scan the waters with Odin's Sight to identify groups of small fish, and then activate Photo Mode and use this to examine the fish in the water to see if there are small Sturgeon hidden somewhere. This is what I did to create my first image above - the Sturgeon have definitive ridged top fins and thin tails, so it was easy to tell them apart when viewing them so closely.
I also captured a short clip showing that the fish can be caught, which you can view here if interested:
Let me know if the above information is helpful! I'll keep you updated with regard to the other missing fish as and when updates become available, but for now, I have no new information. Now, in response to your individual replies -
@m_scatterbrain Thanks for the additional information! I'll take a look there myself and see if I can spot the same big flatfish you believe you saw. I'm also in need of big Bream, so if there's any chance I may find one there or in Folcanstan, I'm keen to take a look around both for this investigation and myself
@Valen78 I opened an investigation myself into fish refusing to be caught / issues with catching them even if in range, as I experienced the same behaviour myself while fishing. I'll add your report to the investigation, but I don't suppose you've captured any video clips showing this type of issue that I could forward?
@dannyrhinos89 Bream are available in the game and are known to be found in the seas around Folcanstan - I'd try fishing there and see if you can grab one. I'd recommend going to the western shore, and taking a small fishing boat out a little way into the waters so that you can reach the fish that spawn further out. Good luck!
Hey @asgardian02 I've noticed that behaviour only if I startle the fish by getting too close to them on the shore / row my boat too close to them. The rest of the pod normally will continue swimming in the direction they were going and one will break off to bite at my line. Could you provide a clip showing exactly what you mean so I can judge? In the meantime, maybe try staying further away and casting your line further, to see if you have better luck.
