    Hello there!

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble finding big flatfish and big mackerel, @EinonDarkblade & @Inky_Paws. If you're having trouble, I would recommend checking our @Ubi-Woofer's videos. I used these when searching for the fish myself, and found them to be very helpful in getting the right spots. It definitely took longer to find big mackerel - as shared by several within this thread, they seem to be a rarer spawn than other fish types.

I personally caught the flatfish from a small boat, and caught the mackerel from the shore. I was also able to bow-fish my final flatfish without any trouble.

As shared by @SpirantCrayon22, the development team are planning to release a full fix for this issue in the future. Once we have more information about this permanent fix, it will be shared within this thread and in the News & Announcements forum.

@Inky_Paws - You mention that you're having trouble reeling in big flatfish and bream. Would you be able to send us a video that shows this happening in-game? We can then pass this along to the developers for a closer look.

    Thanks! 😊

@ubi-borealis It can take several visits to the spot until a big flat or big mack shows up.
Bow fishing from the long boat worked best for them. If only Sunin would pick them up too. 🙂
There still is the issue once a fish gets under the boat it is game over and impossible to land. Even if you get it back out. Same on piers.
Mostly with regular fish though who actually fight harder than big ones.
This sadly spoils the sea fishing which should be done from boat.

Also it would be neat if you could switch from rowing to fishing directly without giving up control first. Just allow pressing the fishing button while rowing.

Thanks for sharing your feedback with us, @Kormac67. I definitely had to revisit Norway a couple of times to find the big mackerel, and I meditated a lot as well. Personally, big flatfish spawned quite easily for me when I searched for them, but I cannot speak on the behalf of other fishers. It would be great if Synin could pick up our catches, though! Thanks for sharing this suggestion, as well as the suggestion to fish without giving up control of your boat.

The development team were investigating an issue where, when fishing from a small boat, the fish would become stuck underneath it and be un-catchable. This issue should have been resolved in TU 1.2.1. If you're still encountering this in-game, would you be able to send us a video that shows this happening? We can then pass it along to the development team and reopen the investigation.

    Thanks! 😊

@ubi-borealis I've been fishing quite a bit with current patch, getting my swordfish at last.
Well the fish don't get stuck under the boat. If this is what happened before it was changed. But if a fish gets under the boat just once you can get it out easily, but you will never be able to land it anymore. As a programmer I guess the distance gets negative and will never reach the landing threshold.
Same thing can happen from shore when you stand on an outcropping or in the water so the fish can get behind you. That's why I always fish one step landwards from the shore, preferably in a little bay.
I only observed it with regular size fish, should be easy to reproduce.

I'm glad to hear that you've been able to get your Swordfish, @Kormac67! Thanks for sharing your own experience with reeling in fish. To help the team to investigate this further, we would appreciate if players encountering this issue could send a video that show the problem happening in-game. This will help the development team to replicate and reproduce the issue during testing, and to take a closer look at what could be causing this to happen.

    Thanks! 😊

Hiya! So, I'm pretty sure that everyone has been able to find their big mackerel and big flat fish. Any chance that you devs are reenabling the stinky but deadly challenge now, so we can get that $250 XP? Asking because it has been a while now, we have all done all of that fishing, not just for that silly swordfish, but we have also done it for the XP and to show that we did the challenge. Any chance of us getting that challenge re-enabled with the mastery challenge update coming up this week? I haven't actually turned in the fish yet, in fear of the challenge not registering as complete, if I do it before you re-enable The challenge on your end. Anyway, I hope that you are all having a great weekend and I'm sure that you all watched that Ubisoft Forward. 🤘🏻🧔🏼 Take care and stay safe.

@first_prophet Soooooo... a random dollar sign put in front of 250 XP. GBoard has quite an aggressive autocorrect. 😕

    @wilwalace99

Are you sure? The only place anyone has found them was specifically put in by Ubisoft a couple of months ago, only one place, a river north of the Isle of Wight. If you did really find one there then they might find that interesting, even at this point.

There is no mention of a rework for the animal spwawn mechanic in update 1.2.2...

Will this issue now be fully fixed and fishes spawn in more locations or did Ubisoft lie to us once more?

In the dev blog they said the June update should fully fix this issue and rework the whole animal swawn system. Such a huge rework should deserve a little mention at the top of the patch notes but there is nothing, which lets me think they have done nothing and the "fix" was to put some of the missing fishes in just one specific location...thats all...

    Hello there!

I'd like to reach out to you all with an update. I'm happy to announce that the development team intend to deploy several fixes in regards to fishing in TU 1.2.2. This update will be deployed 15 June, 2021 at 2 PM CEST / 8 AM ET. The team are deploying a fixes for the following issue:

    • Addressed an issue that prevented players from catching fish from a small boat.
    • Addressed various issues with Ubisoft Core Challenges unlocking (Stinky but Deadly)

If you are still encountering trouble with either of these issues following TU 1.2.2, please don't hesitate to update this thread so we can take a closer look. Please include a video that shows the following:

    • You have the latest Title Update installed on your platform. You can view this information in the opening game menu in the bottom right-hand corner.
    • The issue you're still encountering in-game (such as Stinky but Deadly remaining locked despite meeting the requirements).

Additionally, please ensure that you have an up-to-date save uploaded to the cloud. We can then pass these reports to the development team for further investigation.

I'd also like to provide you all with an update regarding the missing fish. Following TU 1.2.1, big flatfish / mackerel and small halibut / sturgeon were added to selected locations in-game. We have not yet had any new information about these fish being added into additional locations in TU 1.2.2. As the development team mentioned they intended to release a full fix for this issue in June in their Dev Blog, I have reached out to them for an update. As soon as we have any new information to share you about these missing fish, we will let you all know within this thread as soon as we are able to.

EDIT 15 June 2021, 15:10 UTC: The development team have reached out with an update about the repopulation of the missing fish. They should now be more widely available throughout the world for you to catch! 🎣

If you are still unable to find big flatfish/mackerel or small halibut/sturgeon whilst fishing in the world, please don't hesitate to reach out so we can investigate this further.

    Thank you! 😊

@ubi-borealis Thanks for this. Any idea when Stinky but Deadly will reappear on the challenges list?

    Hello there @Khaos004!

To my knowledge, it should have been made available with the deployment of TU 1.2.2. I've just checked my own challenges and can see it's still not present in the list, though. I've reached out to the development team to see if we can get more information about this, or whether there is a delay to the challenge being re-added. As soon as we have more information to share, we will reach out within this thread.

    Thanks! 😊

@ubi-borealis Thanks! I haven't restarted the game or anything since the update (although I'd think that shouldn't matter for the Ubi website and app) and I'll check again tonight. Will be so excited to finally unlock it! Like @First_Prophet I'm waiting to turn the fish in until I see the challenge on the list.

Thanks for the update, @Khaos004! Looks like there must have been a small delay. I can see the challenge myself as well.

You might need to re-equip the Swordfish the unlock the core challenge on Ubisoft Connect. I had to go and kill a couple of enemies before the challenge popped up as completed. I can confirm that this challenge should retroactively unlock, though, as I acquired the Swordfish whilst the challenge was offline.

If anyone encounters any trouble when unlocking "Stinky But Deadly," please don't hesitate to reach out so we can take a closer look.

    Thanks! 😊
