That's a GPU underutilization problem ..... The CPU will only feed the GPU at a rate it demands so if the GPU is underutilized then the CPU usage is going to be low too ..... The GPU utilization should be in the mid to high 90's

@longjohn119 Wow, sherlock. That's why I'm reporting it here. The same issue that's been ongoing for more than two months now.

Jesus Christ so after two months and two additional contents we still didnt get fuking fix to the game playability problem. What a bunch of weasels ubisoft is... I agree too that is the most likely low cpu utilisitaion issue caused by low gpu utilization .... bcs before 1.1.0 i dont remember exactly the cpu utilization but remember my gpu was always arround 90% now i am 80% outside and 40 %- 60 %at cities...

The river ride location seems to be a bit more playable but what the [censored] fix the basic game content already IDIOTS

This isn't a GPU issue. It's a widespread intel CPU issue. You can max GPU utilization easily by setting 4K res + ultra to prove that it's not GPU related, but you cannot do anything about CPU sitting at 50% at 720p, 50% resolution scale, all low. You should just ignore the john person, after all he's been blabbering about skyrim in this topic and defending ubisoft.

The engine and DRM is at fault, it's not our hardware - when it was perfectly playable on v1.0.4. There's nothing that can be done from end-user's side. Of course the "community managers" and developers are ignoring this too.

Here's to further prove that our hardware is not at fault but it's just incompetency from devs; 720p lowest, CPU still stuck at 50% - game is the bottleneck:

Well i dont care at all if its caused by gpu or cpu utilisation issue i just know patch 1.1.0 did destroy the performance of the game and our dear weasels still dint fix it. If they are not capable to give us fix they should give us at least roll back patch choice... ebcause honestly the patch 1.1.0 didnt bring nothing new at all if it wasnt written in game menu i wouldnt even realize that holly shi.t but what i realized was the game playablity destroying..

And considering how long it takes them to fix i think we will get cracked version in good working patches before that lol...

After noticing that the CPU is stuck at 50% I may have realized what the issue is. It's the lack of hyperthreading - and the game wants you to have it for whatever reason now. It would also explain why high end CPU users (9700K and such) have these issues. Here are all the processors that should be affected - sort by highest processor frequency and you will see that even recent CPUs are in that list: https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/search/featurefilter.html?productType=873&0_HyperThreading=False

And an extracted list of some modern/semi-modern CPUs affected:

If it doesn't have Hyperthreading then it's not high end ,,,,, I can't believe they still sell CPUs without Hyperthreading .... No wonder AMD is kicking their butts left and right

@longjohn119 It's a VIDEO game, we are years away from high end CPUs (by your standards) to actually make a dent in video games. There's maybe one or two titles that scale off 16c/32t. As a matter of fact Intel wanted to drop HT altogether, just after Spectre and many more system vulnerabilities, which I believe is the reason for some obscure models such as the 9700K exist.

    @Ubi-Woofer @UbiPositive @ubi-unicorn @UbiQuB3

If you could get the message out to the developers that lack of hyperthreading on a CPU is the reason for drastically reduced performance in the game, then it could finally be a step in the right direction. Again, CPU usage was fine 2 months ago (1.0.4).

Just tried a benchmark and watched my CPU usage. I have a 9900k and CPU [1] would go as high as 80% at 1440p, while every other core sat at 30%'ish.

I'm not going to bother posting screenshots, videos, my dxdiag and msinfo32 as many others have already done this, but enough is enough.

If you can't make your DX12 Anvil Next engine multi-threaded in 2021, then I am at a loss for words.

It is definitely the Hyperthreading. I just watched someone play with i7 9700K (8 cores, NO HT) with RTX 2070 Super. From Max in-game settings to the lowest, CPU was stuck at about 50-ish% all the time. No matter settings and resolution used! We found what is the problem, now the rest is all on Ubisoft to finally fix it!!

@anolinmcginnis its just like this: one core is %90 other is %23, I have i5 6600

Performance is same as before...as expected...

Stop thinking that this will be fixed. We have to live with it. They simply do not care about PC performance. They put too much developement time into river raids instead of adding some needed quality of life features into the game and fixing bugs and PC problems.

Now a new month of the waiting game for a new patch...
