So I was fairly looking forward to what Ubisoft would come up with for the Yule celebrations event. Needless to say, I'm just disappointed with the effort (or lack thereof) they went through with such little quality.

We have a whopping three minigames to endlessly play for little to no reward.

Those rewards being, a reskin of the huntsman armor set! Oh boy! Talk about useless. 🙄
There is one light shield, and one seax/dagger. Neat but not worth it to me.
There are Yule themed head, arm, chest, and back tattoos, neat but I already use the tattoos I want.
There are Settlement cosmetics, neat and I placed one or two of the new ones around, but that's it.
    No ship cosmetics.

Only two short side quests for the entirety of Yule celebrations. There are no side quests to help prepare for the rites and rituals, or to oversee said celebrations as a leader of the clan. Typically nobles were integral in overseeing celebrations for the areas they ruled. Then we don't see many of the actual Raven Clan participating in said Yule celebrations, just a bunch of random revelers who decided to setup in Ravensthorpe. You'd figure the folk of Ravensthorpe be celebrating too.

Then lets add to that by making Ravensthorpe the only place in the AC Valhalla world where Yule is being celebrated. I went back to Norway and no one was feasting or having a good time, no decorations, etc. Same can be said of any Norse or Dane settlement in England.

Missed some opportunities to install Yule themed Flyting challenges, or to show some notable Alliance members join in for the festivities or stop by for a visit. Or even going to visit their settlements to participate in their festivities, with associated quests, etc.

But thank our lucky stars we got a bunch of microtransactions in the Helix store no one asked for. I honestly expected more effort put toward this to make it "feel" like Yule all over the place, or to also delve into what the Anglo-Saxons celebrated, etc.

Then we see out of the entirety of England, aside from the northern region, it only snowing in Ravensthorpe, really?

That being all said, I did see "Chapter 1" on the Yule activities, so that makes me think that some things will change as the festivities progress. Hopefully they do, because this felt like a half hearted attempt at an event. Hopefully River Raids offer something more meaningful than this and have far more effort put into them.

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

i totally agree with you. First of all we need a fix that everything runs. And hopefully more will come until 7 January. If not it is really disapointing 😞
