Should I buy the game right now or Wait ?0 Likes/9 Replies/148 ViewsOriginal poster naumaan 1 posts
I used to come here when Unity was released, and being in these forums was a way to understand the game better.
I pre-ordered every game from unity to odyssey, bugs however made it to every game, and I experienced a lot of them.
As Valhalla is released, just wanted to ask those who have played it from the point of performance and bugs issue, should I wait to buy the game or should i go all in .. ? Kindly Please

@naumaan Different people have different experiences. Also different people have different tolerances toward bugs.
I've seen a few bugs, but nothing to make me rant and throw my controller around, I was happy to buy the game at launch and the later patches (at least for me) improve the look and stability of the game.
It's on sale at Amazon right now, so if you see a good deal, I'd say buy.

@thoughttwenty I have seen a few bugs, that does not get me upset. However, im currently experiencing a game breaking bug. Where a quest is not populating letting me advance the story. For 1 month I have been stuck on there mission Storming the Walls quest. Waiting for the Devs to fix it so I can continue playing the story.

Don't even consider to buy, unless there's an 80% discount or more. There are so many bugs it's insane, and the latest patch barely scratched the surface.

What netspook said. In my opinion, don't buy, and I'm sorely considering not purchasing from Ubi again anytime soon. The sheer amount of bugs (and reports I've made) has been astounding. And the fact that their support is rather poor and hasn't fixed many of them.
I had a support ticket with them since day one about how Ubisoft Connect recognizes I have a PS4 Dualshock controller wirelessly connected to my PC, yet the game menus won't detect it (and Input Mode stays on Mouse & Keyboard, won't let me select Hybrid Mode)... even though any other game I play (and I have extensive Steam/Epic libraries), I have no issues at all with this controller or my setup. Valhalla is the only one that refuses to see and utilize it.
And yet... the moment I add Valhalla as a non-Steam game and launch it through Steam, suddenly Steam actually lets the controller work (due to their innate controller stuff, whereas Ubi's doesn't even seem to work for some people, and these input issues have been reported by others before me.)
Fast forward from launch til now... still nothing done about it. At least my controller works with Steam. I'd have been furious I couldn't enjoy the game with a controller if I hadn't figured that out. And it would've been all this time, since Ubi has done nothing about it... and of course, their support tried to pin it on me as if I use third party programs like DS4Windows (I don't) or update my drivers, other useless nonsense.
So yeah. I'm salty about it, and Ubi won't be seeing more money from me.
In addition to all the tons of other bugs... Just wait until a big sale, and only do it if you really love vikings/time period/etc. Otherwise it's just recycled same old Assassin's Creed. Even their horse models are the exact same garbage imported from old AC games, they couldn't even be bothered to make new ones to try to compete with RDR2's lovely horses that should've raised the bar for everyone. We deserved better overall.

Wait a few months. As it is now, it's only a shallow and buggy version of Origins/Odyssey.
In a few patches it can become very good, it has a huge potential. But if we judge what the game is as we speak, it's not worth it.

Try it out on Ubisoft+. If you are on PC and end up with performance issues or feel their are bugs and glitches that keep the game from being immersive there's always Immortals Fenyx Rising and Watch Dogs Legions or any other Ubi game available on the platform to try out. If you don't like any of them, you're out $15 for a month and can cancel and can always come back to Valhalla. I'm maybe a third through Valhalla and have since switched to playing Fenyx Rising and having a great time.
