There seems to be a bug occurring where NPCs required in various quests can be found killed, preventing you from interacting them and completing those quests.

I’ve run afoul of it in the world event:

    • Silver Wind Elder - Jorvik

Basically, i start the event, follow the pieman to try and find the thief, but when i get to the thief’s location, she’s laying on the ground dead - unable to be interacted with beyond picking up and dropping her corpse. The event will not complete.

Looking through these forums, there seems to be a pattern where similar issues are arising in such quests as:

    • Under The Skin - Snottinghamscire. Sunniva dies for some players, preventing them from progressing; and
    • Lost Glory - Eurvicscire. Moria can be found dead before being able to talk with them ro move on with the quest.

One possible thing I’ve seen in common in these reports is the NPC seems to get killed by environmental damage - fire or being attacked by wild animals like lynxes - before the player is able to talk to them.

It seems weird to me that such important quest NPCs can be killed at all. Even weirder that once dead, they don’t resurrect later. From my experience, and from other posts, travelling out of zone and back, restarting the event, closing game and reloading and even deleting and reinstalling the game have no effect - the NPC’s corpse just stays there where you found or left it.

As I said, it’s weird that they can be killed at all and not respawn. Yet area baddies, like city guards or local bandits, will respawn after you slaughter them if you go away from the area and return later on. Seems to me like some check is missing in these NPC”s coding. And it’s not just an annoyance. For me, I’m a completionist - not being able to complete a world event means I can’t complete that achievement. For those who have it on a story quest, it means they can’t finish the game quest line at all.

Anyway, i just thought consolidating these occurrences in this thread might make it easier to bring them to the developers’ attention, and get them added to the known bugs and issues list. And then fixed in a patch. I hope there’s not many other similar cases, but if there are, do add them here.

Ubisoft, I know there’s always issues for you to address in any new game, but i do hope you add and fix these to the list. I’m enjoying the game and would just like to enjoy it to it’s fullest!

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

Oh, one other thing. I’ve seen in other threads Ubisoft ask for a ticket report number. How does one submit a report ticket in game? And also, if requested, how do i post a pic or a video clip from my console to here?

Guthrum, start of kingdoms come quest. Cant play the game now. My theory is if an ally during a battle gets knocked down with the ! above there head, and you complete the mission without picking them up they spawn dead in their next instance. Meaning it’s basically RNG if it’s gonna happen or not and only way to combat it is to baby sit them. Kinda hard when you’re trying to complete objectives while they are fighting.

Sad to say that the latest patch (1.1.1) doesn’t seem to have fixed my issue in “Silver Wind Elder” That npc corpse just won’t resurrect or respawn.

has anyone else had an essentials quest npc dead preventing progress bug fixed in this patch?
