So an interesting bug I found is that Flails and Dane axe damage is cut in about half when you dual wield them of the same type (having a Flail and a Dane together does not change anything). I was trying to figure out why my damage seemed so low with them compared to when dual wielding literally every other type of weapon yet my Flails having the best stats across the board except for Speed. Would also explain why dual wielding Spears and Daggers are DPS machines
After doing multiple tests against a Zealot, I realized that my Damage with my Flails would go from something like 32 to 42ish damage per hit with a single Flail, down to 18 damage per hit when dual wielding two flails (took off all other gear to prevent buffs applying for damage). Now if I had 1 Flail and 1 other type of weapon, the damage does not drop. My first thought was maybe the combo of dual wielding 2 of the same weapons is considered 2x attack speed because of the combo animations thus they cut damage in half (I've played some games that do this for balancing). But found this was NOT the case.
I further tested other dual wielding weapons of the same kind, starting with the famous dual spear. My damage per strike with a single spear was about 27 to 35 with those (did this test at least 5 times each with all weapons to gauge consistency and variances). I then did a dual spear attack and my damage stayed the same yet the attack speed is 2x. Did dual hammers, damage never changed with each hit. Same with Dual Beared Axes. Then finally, dual daggers. damage per strike was identical to utilizing a single dagger. Yet most of those combinations legitimately increase attack speed by 2.
That being said, would love for this to be fixed as it seems to gut the potential to dual wielding Flails and Dane Axes completely compared to any other combination. Its obviously easy to explain how having Spears or Daggers that if they deal 10 DPS by themselves, dual wielding increases to 20, yet Flails and Danes would remain at 10 due to the damage gutting.
