    Once your entire quest-log i empty to only way to gain xp is to kill enemies, yet there are almost none...
    By the time your quest-log is empty your well over lvl400 and yet the only high area is lvl340 with just a few patrols in it.

    Most of the big forts and encampments that could hold enemies were part of the main story and once conquered they are now being held by allies.
    I tried returning to a few forts to find some enemies but there seemed to be just a fraction of what was there during the story mission.

    Sure it took me 200hours to get everything done and one could argue you've got your moneys worth, but like games then keep me busy for much longer.
    i dont like starting new games over and over.

    So i cant help but think whats the purpose of this big world? Why wasn't it made much smaller if in the ned the size of this world doesnt add up to give the player more stuff to do...

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

    Couldn't agree more. Remarkably lifeless Country. The only thing to do is hunt or fish.

    @asgardian02 Agreed. They said we would have plenty to do but I have had that said empty map since December. I was very fortunate as to not have any issues with completing the game or any side missions being bugged apart from certain big fish not showing.

    I have stopped doing Reda's daily quests as I have 1k opal and nothing decent to spend it on. I have the Berserker set and won't change from that. Did Vikings really go round with all that fancy armour?

    @shaiwan43

    sure river raids are coming, but thats supposed to be on 3 different maps, leaving England still useless behind.

    Its getting boring to refer to odyssey which wasn't a perfect game, but compared to Valhalla it damn was near perfect.
    Anyway there you all kinds of quests within each village/town. The constant fight between Greece and Sparta, sure all those endeavors got boring at some point but there actually was a lot to do.
    Also camps and forts actually had enemies.

    @vanadiumcobalt

    i reckon they would certainly loot from their enemies (so why do enemies in this game only drop cheese, pillows or flowers?).
    I see armor stands in enemy camps, why didnt we get a few in the longhouse?

    there is not much need to change armor in this game, as its overly simplified. everything is just sets, it couldnt be more boring.

    @asgardian02 Indeed. The cheese is moldy, too.

    yesterday i got an pillow from a shieldbearer.... that was a first.

    back to random loot drops would just be a lot more fun.

    Will the up to come February update with River Raids manage to correct that sad reality?

  • Asgardian02
    Original poster 1932 posts

    @torfinr

    it wont, as the river raids are supposed to be on 3 different maps, leaving England useless behind...

    @asgardian02 They must add activities, contracts maybe (like in Odyssey) for making roaming/killing in England worth it.
    After all it's a viking game. A shame that in a viking game the only activities left after the main story arc are .... fishing and hunting.

    @torfinr

    yes indeed. its really hard to find enemies and killing the same patrols over and over is super boring.
    I already have every single item found maxed out and still 133 tungston in stock

    @asgardian02 Um, you're not done with the story. More to come, more to do, game came out just what?, a few months ago? Hold the criticism till it's all said and done. Go play another game for a while, ride a bike, clean your room. Something...

    @quor321 the problem Is that valhalla is AN open world, a big, open world, not a story driven game.

    And open world Is ,empty, boring

    Game like this should offer a lot of Activity ,not Just watch a video and goes till the end of the story.

    @quor321 While I understand what you have in mind I dont agree:
    an RPG is meant to have replayability. We're not in the 80s anymore, a clear "Game Over" is not acceptable anymore.
    As for those who dont care, it's not their problem anyway, as that matter concerns only those who want to play beyond the main story arc.
    And it's my case, and judging from the amount of players who enjoyed Odyssey's endgame for 1000 or up to 1500+ hours, I am not the only one.
    Valhalla is not ready for that. Yet. We're preparing, suggesting, imagining its future 😉

    @torfinr

    well said.

    I do remember the game 20 years ago where you were finished in 20hours. I dont miss this time.

    @Quor321
    In this day and age games what to offer you a game as an ongoing service, hence the MTX's or so they say to accommodate for that... on top of a full price mind you.
    Yet this game doesnt offer any replay value whatsoever. So basically we should then wait 2 year with buying the game to have full acces, cos thats what your saying, that they released an unfinished game?
    certainly feels so. Dont know if you have finished everything yet, but once you do, you will see how its just a big empty world and its sad.

    Also when i compare it to the witcher3 (6year old).. valhalla doesnt even have ppl to talk too. There is not a different night and day cycle. WShat i mean in witcher3 you could a lot of of stuff that was not possible during the day and vica versa.

    @asgardian02 Yep it's really tedious. Even just looking for stuff to do is boring as you have to run or ride for dumb amounts of time without encountering anything besides the odd wolf and I haven't even cleared all the points on the map because it's simply not interesting. Another curse. Yay. Another Roman artefact. Yay. Another shroom patch and some random 1-time enemy spawns. Yay. And the anomalies and cairns can go stuff themselves after a certain point. Sure there are the hunting and fishing goals, but as someone who doesn't enjoy killing animals (I literally cannot bring myself to kill seals, foxes etc), I won't complete them anyway, also the fishing isn't even remotely fun, it's just nope, so I'm never going to get 100% completion like I did with Odyssey anyway.

    spoiler

    The cairns werent to bad either, just 2 were really annoying. The shrooms were easy and i like the patterns on the stones puzzles.
    Doing all the artifacts will give you a roman shield though.

    @asgardian02 I hate the anomalies with a passion. The first ones were fine, but at some point she just starts constantly plummeting to nowhere in spite of pointing in the right direction and then respawning before one of those hideous red beam things that make me foam at the mouth. I wish they'd provided different routes, where you could either figure out the puzzle or knock yourself out with the bad parcour, instead of forcing us to do both. I find it weird we cannot jump backwards like we could in AC2 - why scrap a mechanic like that? As I said before, I'd spend Helix credits to avoid them, lmao. The Cairns too were okay for a long time, but the last few I found overtax my patience. I don't want to spend 3 hrs on that. And Roman shield. Pfft, I don't even use shields except for those weekly challenges. 😄 But another thing, they could have made it so people who enjoy that stuff could repeat it.

    I am pretty sure repeatable quests (Contracts) will be added soon, in the same fashion they did in Odyssey (Contracts from the Statues or the ship's log). Hopefully*

    @viem Also hopefully with more variety than the 4 Reda has 😄
