I updated Assassins' Creed: Valhalla last night to access the new content. Recently, I have been using my Play Station's Share Play function to allow a friend to play through the game with me. However, post-update he can no longer play the game, it just tells me that the game screen cannot be displayed due to blocked scenes. I have been able to share play this game, as well as other recent Ubisoft games such as Assassins' Creed: Odyssey.

I firmly believe this is a question that only Ubisoft, and not Play Station can solve. I attempted to Share Play Odyssey to test the function and it worked fine.

Is Ubisoft now disallowing Share Play on Valhalla? Or is this some sort of temporary, unforeseen problem?

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

    Hello all!

Following the announcement of TU 1.2.0, I would like to reach out to you all with an update. The development team plans to fix this issue in tomorrow's update:

(PS4/PS5) Addressed an issue that caused the Share Play option to be no longer available.

This update is due to be deployed 16 March, 2021 at 1PM CET/8AM EDT. You can read the patch notes and learn more here.

If the issue still persists for you following the deployment of TU 1.2.0, please can you provide us with a video that shows the following:

    • You have TU 1.2.0 installed. You can check this in the title menu in the bottom right-hand corner.
    • That you are still unable to use the share play feature when playing Assassins' Creed: Valhalla.

    Thanks all! 😊

I have had the exact same problem happen on my PS4. I used share play multiple times a week with my friend with no issue before the update and now sharing is blocked.

@deisegurl I'm glad it is not just me!! Ubisoft has never blocked an AC game from being share played, so I am really hoping this is a mistake that they will correct. I have messaged them via Messenger. I suggest you do, too. The more people message them about the same problem, the more likely it is they will respond and, with any luck, correct this error. I will be very angry if this is a permanent - and unannounced - change.

I have discussed the issue with Ubisoft (their chat function was finally open on the support pages) and it has been reported. If anyone else has had the same problem as me, please comment on this thread. The more people with this issue report the problem, the sooner it will be fixed.

@locoporkko Sorry to hear it. At least I know I’m definitely not the only one. Please report it to Ubisoft as I have done already. Make it very clear to them that this is a problem that THEY must resolve. It is not a Play Station issue or a generic share play issue. Good luck!

@will771412 Thanks for reporting it and while am I am sorry we all seem to be having this problem I take solace in the fact that I am not the only one.
I had already tried to make contact through Twitter but I will try to contact them again tomorrow.

@deisegurl Thanks for trying to contact them. We can only hope this is an accident and that it will soon be fixed if we keep bugging them.

I have the same problem too! Before update 2.20, I was able to Share Play Valhalla with my friend but now it is permanently displaying as blocked scenes. This happens for the main game too and not just the new River Raids. Hopefully, (since this doesn't make any sense) this was an unintentional change on behalf of Ubisoft and we can get them to fix it.

@legoloughie This is what I’m hoping. I can’t understand why Ubisoft would all of a sudden block Share Play. As before, I strongly encourage you to get in touch with them yourself via the support website (make you sure you stress this is not a PlayStation issue).

I reported an issue recently to do with PlayStation 4 Share Play no longer working on Valhalla (and only Valhalla, its a game-specific problem, see my post below). I chatted earlier in the week with a support agent on Ubisoft's website. They said the issue would be reported but I have not heard back any confirmation of this. I have seen no Ubisoft engagement with original my post either, even though others have commented reporting the same exact problem. How do I change this? I would love to be able to go back to Share Playing this game with my friend as before this update.up

It's very frustrating because the error appears to be an innocent mistake, rather than a conscious decision to stop PS4 gamers from Share Playing Valhalla with friends. This is just the latest in a long line of issues I have had playing this game, and I just want to know that my problem has been noted by Ubisoft and that they will attempt to fix it.

Also having this issue as of today (first time my friend and I have tried to play since the update) so I'm gonna try to also open a support case about this, but chat currently says unavailable. I can't seem to actually "Submit" the case because the "submit" button disappears after I choose a category for my issue, so I guess I'll just camp that page until Live Chat is available or something. How incredibly frustrating.

@whoisdesdemona I had this issue as well - it was very frustrating and incredibly poor customer service. I just kept coming back and checking the page a couple of times a day. I think I had some luck with it around 4pm GMT. You’ll be able to do it at some point. I would, if I were you, copy a link to this forum post and send it in the chat (whenever you do get through) so they can see multiple people are reporting having this problem.

They tried to brush me off initially until I got an agent to properly read what I was saying about this being a Valhalla-specific issue. The sooner we get an official Ubisoft response on this thread the better - and the best way to do that is to keep reporting the issue.

Reported it to Ubisoft today, was advised it has been sent to the Games team so we'll see how that goes. Linked two Reddit threads of people asking about the same issue.

@redd_arten Thanks. Hopefully our reports have got the ball rolling now. Could you link those Reddit threats here please? Not seen any yet myself.

@will771412 Certainly, commenting and upvoting or adding to the Valhalla subreddit might increase awareness too

@will771412 Finally got through, it happened to be 4pm when I read this lol so I thought I'd try. They wanted an image of the issue for some reason which I barely managed to get my friend on the PS4 in time to get a picture and get back to the livechat before it DCed me from being idle.

All they said is they escalated the issue and will get back to me via email, so I asked if there was an ETA but they said they are unable to provide a timeframe sooo /shrug

Looks like I won't be playing this game for the foreseeable future until Ubi bother to get it sorted.

@redd_arten Thanks for the links. I made an account to comment on them. I just think the more engagement there is with this, as you say, the better our chances of getting it fixed.

@whoisdesdemona That's good that it's been reported. Even if they aren't acting on it yet or taking it seriously it is better to have started the paper trail and at least alerted them to it.

Sadly I agree with your prognosis. It just makes me so annoyed that Ubisoft has ignored this post for nearly a week, but will reply to most other reported issues, however minor, very quickly. It seems like they do not want to take any responsibility for this.

@redd_arten I found yet another thread on Reddit about this. Just trying to make sure people there are aware of this forum post. Its probably best that anyone and everyone experiencing this issue report it on the same thread.
