I have read other forums reporting the same bug but non of the solutions seemed to work.
After i brought the bandits thier goods the tabern just stands outside the bandit house. i cannot finish the mission and he doesnt move. i tried reloading older saves as well as getting rid of all nearby horses but non of that worked.

I SOLVED IT!!! Guys i can't say this will work for everyone. But it worked for me! I went to quests and untracked. Then i selected another quest (it happened to also be in Ravensthorpe). I started riding my horse there and he she showed behind me talking. Idk if that's a blanket fix, bu it worked for me! Good luck!

@moosetaffy I ended up having to stab the horse lol to make it to move and prompt the storyline.

SOLVED. Shot an arrow at his horse to make it move, then Tarben jumped on it.

Load a save game prior to the start of the quest. Dont talk to either of the other 2 npcs, go straight to whatever his name is. When you leave the bakery, his horse will be behind the building. Get onto his horse and dismount the horse next to him. This is what worked for me. Bug fixed!

    Hello all!

I've merged together a few similar threads wherein players were unable to proceed in "Man of Mystery" as Tarben became stuck and wouldn't moved. After reading the reports you have made, it seems this happens in two locations:

    • At the bakery, before visiting the bandits
    • After visiting the bandit, when you need to escort Tarben back to the settlement.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to share a workaround within this thread. I'm glad you were able to proceed further with this mystery! If you're encountering this issue in-game, please could you try the following:

    • Reloading an earlier save, if possible, to see if this triggers Tarben to move
    • Untracking then re-tracking the quest in your quest log
    • (Gently) Attacking the horse. Some of you have reported that hitting the horse triggered Tarben to hop up onto it.

If none of these workarounds help you to proceed with the quest, could you let us know the following information:

    • Where has Tarben become stuck for you?
    • Did you try to complete the quest in one go, or did you start the quest and do other things instead (such as a different quest, exploration etc)?
    • Can you send us a video that shows Tarben is not moving?

We can then pass this information along to the development team for a closer look.

    Thanks all! 😊

[Playing on PC]For me it got stuck after I took his horse and followed another quest. When returning to this quest there was no horse for him and I couldn't speak with him anymore. He was just sitting there.

I can reach the point where I deliver the goods and the cutscene plays before it dumps us outside and updates the quest to say escort Tarben back home. However every time my horse runs up, regardless of where I left it, and knocks into Tarben turning him into an inactive character who won't follow me.

Loading an earlier save doesn't prevent this.

I've managed to complete it, by duplicating my horse (not on purpose) so I ended up with three of them.

Once reaching the hut for the first time I left my horse to the side entered the hut and on exiting a copy of my horse ran up to the door. I then walked to the camp you have to raid. After completing that and returning to the hut the horse I initially left to the side was still there and the one that had run up to the door was still there.

Entering the hut and automatically exiting again caused another copy of my horse to appear and run up to the hut slightly of to the left of the first copy, even though it knocked Tarben again he remained responsive so I could take him back home.
