Sharing an update. I went through customer service and at the end of the investigation pretty much came down to it being how the game renders textures and to expect dips in quality. So not a bug or a glitch just how the engine loads textures. Not the answer I was hoping for but there it is. No matter what other settings you turn down if you use high textures they will pop in and out because of how the engine loads them.

The problem is likely a poor implementation of Resizeable BAR (Direct CPU access to VRAM) ..... This wasn't a problem until after Nvidia announced that Valhalla was supporting resizeable BAR ..... It's not allocating VRAM properly and introducing a new technology into a game this damn buggy is just asking for problems because it's going to affect all systems even those that don't implement it (Anything other than RTX 3000 series or RX 6000 series GPUs and systems with PCIE 4.0 support for the motherboard and CPU) .... It's silly anyway because such a small fraction of the Player Base has a compatible system due to the shortage of new GPUs and CPUs right now so it's just marketing nonsense and a waste of time like SLI support

That's why it's not a problem on PS5 (and probably not a problem on Series X) because direct CPU access of VRAM is implemented natively in the design of the hardware and OS itself ..... Just dump support for Resizeable BAR/Smart Access and build in support into the next version of the Game Engine which should be completely redesigned from scratch because it is effectively End of Life and not compatible with modern consoles or PC's anymore ......

Actually I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to find out this is also what is causing the low FPS and crashing issues .... I bet they added support for Resizeable BAR into the game engine with update 1.1.0 or 1.1.1 which is when everyone started having problems with low FPS and crashing all the time ..... It's just a dumb move by Management to try to implement something like that into a game that wasn't stable yet

Many ground textures, blurred at right angles. This is especially evident in the carpets. For example where Reda the merchant sits. If you look at the carpet Reda in the cut-scene or at right angles texture quality drops catastrophically. I think this is a bug in the game engine as in the new Far Cry 6.

@sattium85 Good luck with this mate. I reported this too and was speaking with support for months who told me all sorts. Sometimes theyd acknowledge the issue, then other times they'd swear blind that it didn't exist. Eventually they just told me to wait for future patches where it might be resolved. So far, nothing.

Hi @sattium85 I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with the textures in the game.

I can see you have provided a couple of examples, however the YouTube video is private and cannot be viewed, could you please change the permissions.

Do you also have some other examples of the ground textures that you can provide?

@Darth_Yes Do you have a link to the forum thread that you reported this on previously?

@sattium85 Thanks for the video and for providing the forum link to the previous thread.

I have now merged your posts with the original thread.

I have forwarded this information on to the development team for them to look into.

To confirm have you tried adjusting the graphics settings to see if there are any changes? I am unable to see which settings you are currently using as the text was in Russian, if possible could you provide screenshots of your graphics settings in English, thanks.

@Darth_Yes Can you also confirm if you have tried adjusting the graphics settings to see if there are any changes?

@ubi-keo Unfortunately I can not change the language (not available) but I use the highest graphics settings available in the game. My config: i7 8700k, 16gb RAM, SSD, RTX 2080 Super, Windows 10 64bit, Nvidia Driver ver. 472.12

@sattium85 Ok thanks for the information provided.

And can you also confirm if you have tried lowering the settings to see if the issue persists? It would be useful to know if this only occurs on the highest settings.

@ubi-keo I checked this with different settings and found that this bug only plays with high textures settings.

@sattium85 That's an issue with the camera really and the way it changes focus so you don't clip through the canvas and have it block your view .... It's a real issue when fighting in a narrow hallways or small rooms and you clip the walls and see nothing but low texture stones. The camera is too far back from the PC. Stand next to a column in Odyssey and rotate the camera and you'll see the column go transparent when it clips and you can still see. Do the same thing in Valhalla and you get a blurry texture of the column completely blocking your view

@longjohn119 The camera has nothing to do with it. In my case, there is a video in the Viking house where there are no narrow spaces and still at right angles the texture becomes blurry.

@ubi-keo Yeah I've tried literally every graphic combination possible. I opened a ticket with support and had it open for a couple of months where I tried almost every configuration and solution that we could think of. In the end the ticket was closed and they said to just wait for a future update that may or may not address the issue.

    @sattium85 Thanks for confirming this.

@darth_yes So to confirm you experience this issue even if you lower the texture settings? It's just that sattium85 confirmed this only occurs with the high texture settings.

@ubi-keo Sorry, it happens when textures are set to highest quality. From what I can gather it's the high resolution textures switching to the lower quality when you get close to them. So when you change the textures to a lower value, it doesn't happen because it isn't using the higher resolution textures. It seems to be a bug with the highest quality texture settings.

@Ubi-Keo Any updates on this? The issue is still persistent and really puts me off playing the game. I come back after every patch hoping that something will have been fixed, and yet am disappointed. Here is another video of the issue.
