During the 'Stench of Treachery' quest's investigative phase, I came across a 'Confirm Kill' prompt when clearing a bandit site in the swamp. After confirming this kill, I waited through a long blank loading screen, and was then taken to the dark, misty animus loading area. When I pressed the menu button, my character model was a glowing red balloon-man. Power levels had gone, but skill tree was still there. I quit to main menu and loaded in at what I guess was my last auto-save, before I raided that camp.

I've attached a screenshot of the red balloon man, and also a link to the highlight from my stream.

Unsure if I was not far enough progressed in the game to kill that character, or if there's another reason it bugged out!

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

    Hello @aSassysCreed,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention!

Can you please share with us your full PC specs, so we can have a look? Additionally, can you please confirm if you've encountered this issue just once or multiple times?

    Many thanks!

    Hi Mark,

I've attached a Google Drive file as I don't have permission(?) to upload the .txt file.

I've only encountered this issue once, and didn't attempt to re-create it once I loaded back into the game. I've progressed a bit further now, so am not sure if I'd be able to.
I have been encountering other crashes randomly though, but they seem to be due to my computer being an old potato :') .

You'll notice that my NVIDIA driver isn't up to date, this is because after leaving the game for a while after early access/initial release, I came back to it and was getting constant bloom lighting in all environments, and the only way I could get rid of it was to revert my drivers back to the version that was installed when I played early access.

If that is something I should install now (hopefully the bug is gone!) let me know 🙂
