    Hello everyone,
i got AC Valhalla on the weekend so about 3 days ago.
So far its great but there are severe lighting issues, that make the game unplayable.

    Issues:

    • Sunlight flickers when refleceted from surface such as stone or snow
    • Also flickering of light during cutscenes
    • Interiors seem overly bright sometimes, altough they cant receive full sunlight, because they are indoors

Right now the issue is so distractign that i cant play anymore.

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

Hey @nerdmigo79, sorry to hear these issues are affecting your urge to play at this time. Our team is aware of the cutscenes issues with flashing lights and investigating this problem at this moment. However, would you be able provide any video clips of this happening on the surfaces of rocks and snow and also the interior lighting issues you mentioned? I'd like to share this with our team's investigation as well.

Hey, so i made quick edit with a few occaisons.
I am now a bit further in the game, but i think i can load a save with Norway, but essentially those flickerings you see, its the same in Norway.

I have the same issue, it seems to be a lot worse indoors. I have just done the battle at the end of the Yorkshire arc and it was difficult to see the enemy. I have just returned to the game after 2 months of The Division 2 and this is making it very difficult to continue. I didn't have this issue before.

So here is a short clip of indoors lighting issues, those are not sped up in any way, thats how it looks unfortunately.

I also think that this should really be looked into because its a) unplayable and b) potentially dangoures regarding epilepsy. Its exactly those things that are dangerous, fast alternating and bright strobe like effects.

@nerdmigo79 That's exactly the same as I have, it's the same on both my Desktop and Laptop.

@normski7a yeah, i hope that they are working on a patch.. because its not like you can ignore it during gameplay or anything.. like a few weird animations or such..

@nerdmigo79 Thanks for sharing these video clips with us. Could you also confirm if you have already exhausted all steps from our PC Step Guide here? If so, could you provide some further information by creating a support ticket and attaching your MSINFO and DXDIAG for our game's team to look over?

@nerdmigo79 Much appreciated! There may be a few steps they will share along with those steps, but please keep us posted within your ticket so we can collect further information on the flickering you have been seeing outside of cut-scenes.

    @ubi-smash Hey There!
So yes in the support ticket email they recommended a clean re-install of the Nvidia GPU drivers (deleting previous driver profiles and settings in the process) and this worked!
I repeat, this worked! Game looks clean now and beautiful because thats what it is: Beautiful.

Here is the guide for everyone needing help with this issue:

I've been trying to stress this for months ..... Do not upgrade your drivers every month unless you have a reason to do so like a **specific** bug being fixed in a game you play or you need new drivers for a new game ..... I'm still running the Game Ready Drivers for Cyberpunk 2077 because they just work and there is no reason for me to upgrade them .... Every 3 or 4 driver updates or every 6 months, whichever come first I run DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) in the Safe Mode with the network off and do a clean upgrade .... I also do it for the audio drivers at the same time (Realtek and Creative are notorious for bad audio updates)

You probably had "dueling" Windows Registry entries both trying to control the DX lighting API or something ..... They are just fighting each other for control .... Or you could have mismatched DLLs one from the latest version and one from an older version

@longjohn119 Yeah its interesting what could have caused the conflict.. lessons learned.

@nerdmigo79 This didn't work for me, but what did work was rolling back to a one month old Driver rather then the latest Nvidia release.

@normski7a Which is exactly why I recommend not upgrading working graphics drivers unless you have a good reason to ..... If it ain't broke then don't try to fix it
