I don’t know where else to post my question, but this is a Rowdy Neighbors quest bug so I’ll put it here. This is the guy in the hut who I’m supposed to escort out. The key is a “ghost” key. I cannot pick it up and I also cannot speak to the guy inside, he just keeps sobbing non stop... Here’s my link. Please fix this so I can finish my hand. I have 147 hours on it...

  • Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

Hello there @COUGAR00123456! Welcome to the forums 🙂

I've moved your post into a separate thread, as it's a slightly different issue being investigated in the current megathread.

Thanks for taking the time to include a video for us. I wasn't able to find an ongoing investigation for this issue, so I've passed your report along to the development team so they can take a closer look.

If we require any additional information from you, we'll reach out to you within this thread.

    Thanks 😊

    Hello again @COUGAR00123456!

I apologise for the double post. The development team have reached out to me, and would like to gather some more information.

Can you please provide us with more information on the events leading up to you encountering this issue? For instance, there are two other NPCs to interact with as part of "Rowdy Raiders." Did you successfully complete these first? Or was this the first NPC you tried to help?

Did you attempt to complete "Rowdy Raiders" in one go upon starting the quest, or did you go away from the quest area at any point to carry out different tasks?

Any additional information you can provide from your experience leading up to, and after, this issue occuring will be helpful for the development team's investigation.

    Thanks! 😊

@ubi-borealis Thank you for the response! I believe I tried to save the alcohol from the burning house before I attempted this npc. I did decide to stray from this quest after doing that I one I believe. I came back to the rowdy raiders about a week later to find this NPC locked away in his hut. My first interaction with him he did speak to me but the key was a phantom. I came back the next evening to try again and noticed he no longer interacts with me he just sobs and the key is unattainable. Do you know of a way around this bug so I can get on with the game and finish it?
    Thanks!

Thanks for providing me with more information on the events leading up to, and after, encountering the "phantom" key, @COUGAR00123456! I'll pass this information along to the development team so it can be used in the investigation.

When you left the quest area, what did you do next? Did you start an alternative pledge, or were you just exploring the area and searching for mysteries/wealth/artifacts?

I've not encountered this issue being reported before, I'm afraid, so I'm not sure of a definite workaround. If you haven't already, it could be worth trying some basic console troubleshooting steps, as this acts to "refresh" the system. If you're able to, I'd also recommend trying to reload an earlier save to see if the issue still persists prior to attempting this part of "Rowdy Raiders." I know that this may cause you to lose some progress, but it might help you to bypass the issue as well.

Have you tried to leave the area and coma back to the quest later? It's possible that the quest might "reset" after some more progression in-game. If you're able to try an alternative pledge, or a different quest, you could also try doing this to see if the key resets.

If you try any of those workarounds, please do let me know if they help to resolve the issue for you!

    Thanks 😊

@ubi-borealis I didn't start another pledge, I just was exploring and collecting wealth and mysteries in the nearby area.

I'll try to do another pledge and come back to it. I really don't want to have to reload an earlier save and have the same thing happen to me but it sounds like maybe I don't have a choice. I'll try that and if it solves the problem, I'll let you know so you can pass that along to others. Thanks for your help!

Thanks for clarifying that further for me, @COUGAR00123456. I'll let the development team know exactly what your actions were.

Please let me know if coming back to the quest after some more in-game progression helps to resolve the issue, or whether the key remains invisible. I completely understand that loading an earlier save is not the ideal solution. We have found that this can sometimes help players to bypass similar issues when playing through the scene again, so it's worth giving it a try if you're able to. If the issue persists after reloading an earlier save, we can also let the development team know this, as this is useful for the investigation.

If we require any additional information from you, we'll reach out within this thread.

    Thanks 😊

@ubi-borealis Thank you for that suggestion. I tried your idea of doing another pledge. I did the Vinland quest and have come back only to find the guy still crying in the hut and the key is still unattainable... It appears this didn't get reset. Any other way to reset this and hopefully get this bug resolved? There's zero chance of me going to an earlier save. I've put in 155 hours in this game. If there's no other way I probably will never play another one of these games again. That's not a threat, it's just frustration, pure and simple. I do appreciate your help with this btw!

Thanks for updating us, @COUGAR00123456. I'm sorry to hear that progressing with a quest hasn't reset "Rowdy Raiders" for you. I'm afraid that there's no "Reset Quest" feature in-game, so I'm not sure of any other ways to force this quest to restart. I understand that this may not be the answer you were hoping for, and apologise for any frustration caused.

I have had an update from the development team regarding the investigation into this issue, and they hope to resolve it in a future update. We currently can't provide an ETA for when this update will be released, yet. I would recommend keeping an eye out within the News & Announcements forums for more information.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out 🙂
