UNSOLVED [REOPENED] Unable to progress in "Flann Over Ireland" as NPCs don't meet at the stable | POST HERE5 Likes/239 Replies/7967 Views
Thank you for continuing to update this thread with your experiences in "Flann Over Ireland." The development team are still investigating this issue further, and I have passed on the reports that have been shared within this thread since my last update to assist with the ongoing investigation. Thank you @BrokenWings86, @domjo, @J_r0en, @LancreWitch & @kaiage81.
We don't yet have any new updates to share with you all. Once any new information is made available, we will let you all know within this thread and in the News & Announcements forum.
@domjo - Thanks for including a video in your report. I've passed this along to the development team for use in the ongoing investigation.
@Viddovich - Thanks for the update, and for letting me know your girlfriend is the one encountering this issue. Can you let me know her PSN so I can pass on her report to the development team?
@CTXA - If you're encountering a different issue to Ciara and Barid not leaving together for the Coronation, would you be able to start a new thread? This way, we can keep both investigations separate and prevent any miscommunication or loss of information.

@ubi-borealis I took another look through my saves and did find one from well before I started Flann over Ireland. I lost a fair bit of progression, but have now been able to catch up and successfully complete the escort of Barid and Ciara to Meath.
Of note, it appeared like it was going to happen again as Barid stopped moving when I walked between him and Ciara as they got on their horses and began to head out of the stables. I moved back away and waited for Barid who eventually began following Ciara, then got on a horse and followed them to Meath. I'm wondering if by trying to get on the remaining horse and interrupting Barid's path is what has caused this bug? Last time I did the same thing but had gotten on the horse and followed Ciara not realizing Barid didn't follow. Just a thought.
Thanks for providing us with an update, @Jynxie900. I'm sorry to hear that you lost some of your progression. I'm glad to hear that you've been able to bypass this issue on a second playthrough Thanks for letting us know more about your second playthrough of this quest as well.
I have an update to share with you all from the investigation. The development team intend to release a fix for this issue in a future update! We don't yet have a confirmed ETA for when this update is to be deployed. Once this information is shared with up, we will let you all know within this thread and in the News & Announcements forums as soon as we are able to.

Oh my, after 2 weeks and hundreds of mentions on the internet, the development team is now intending tofix the problem.
Why dont you guys make us able to cancel quests?
There are so many people stuck on so many different quests in your game its quite sad.
At least let us play the game instead of making everybody wait for 1 - 2 months...

I can't continue the Flann Over Ireland quest for searching the body of one of the enemies and I dont have a back up save. None of them can be searched only carried or set a trap. It's very irritating been stuck with it for about a week now. I tried the team but they asked for a video and I dont have one so yea
I don't want to restart because I have 185+ hours in the game.

@danny6713 I'm sorry to hear that you are unable to progress in the quest 'Flann Over Ireland' this is not a known issue.
Could you please provide a video to show that you are unable to interact with the body. In the video can you also go to your quest log screen and highlight the 'Flann Over Ireland' quest to show the objective.
I understand that you have no other manual saves, however the game does auto save. If you go to the load save option is there an auto save that you can load where you do not lose too much progression? If there is one available I would recommend loading the save before you started the quest and try replaying it.

So glad I'm not the only one!!! Same thing happened here (Xbox one). Didn't have an earlier save to load without losing 30+ hours of gameplay. I beat the entire original game, including all achievements (cause I'm a fanatic achievement hunter) then loaded the DLC. Now I'm stuck. This really sucks.

Ciara just sits at the table. Braid or Ciara don't follow. I took the time to push her all the way to where we should be but she just walks all the way back to town.

Thank you for continuing to update this thread with your experiences with "Flann Over Ireland." We don't yet have a confirmed ETA for when the fix for this quest will be deployed. I understand that this may not be the update you were hoping for, and apologise for any disappointment caused. As soon as we have more information to share with you regarding future updates, this will be posted within this thread and in the News & Announcements forum.
@J_r0en - The development team have announced that they have no plans to implement a reset / restart quest feature into the game:
Due to the structure of quests within the game, a "reset/restart quest" feature is not feasible at this stage of development. While some quests and world events allow you to walk away or reload your save in order to reset them, this is not the case for every instance within Valhalla. We strongly recommend regularly adding manual saves, especially before and after pivotal moments, to ensure you have backup states to revert to if needed.
We hope to have more news regarding the fix for "Flann Over Ireland" to share with you all soon.

This is because the save system is borked and, having lost hours of gameplay and now I'm stuck with no way to progress the storey arc or even return to before the DLC. Having read the other replies " DLC is no n refundable" etc this is extremely frustrating. Given its not an isolated issue , this isn't the same as a missing fish to 100% the game that we can wait for this is the first quest in the story arc that you can't bypass.
Given the DLC itself was not available on XBOX till days after launch (I could buy it again! but not get it as part of the season pass I owned!) , these things are cumulative issues and not isolated.
So I pre-bought a season pass which didn't work, when it did work the content failed and I'm left playing for what opal and daily missions that are the same each time? (When they work as I received online service errors every third time I play).
We get it, it's not so quick a fix, but what we don't see is priority, other parts of this DLC got hotfixes surely a bug that stops you playing any of the DLC story arc is important too? And trying to shift the blame on the player for not manually saving before important bits? no-one in their right mind would call the initial story arc mission a pivotal moment.
It sucks, and it took weeks to acknowledge the issue with no fix in sight.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us, @Rphilipson. I'm sorry to hear about the issues you have encountered in "Wrath of the Druids" and "Flann Over Ireland."
I understand that having a "Reset / Restart" quest feature would be convenient. As shared by the development team, it is not possible to implement this feature into the game at this stage. We have passed on the feedback that has been shared regarding this decision to the dedicated teams.
There are many reasons as to why some issues cannot be resolved via hot fixes, and require a Title Update. The development team has provided more information about this in their Dev Blog:
A hotfix is a temporary back-end solution that does not feature code or asset changes and therefore does not require a download. This is both a strength and weakness, since it is not possible to make substantial changes through hotfixes.
A title update is a full-blown update to the game that adds, changes, or removes code and/or assets and therefore requires files to be downloaded.
I would like to assure you that the development team has been treating this issue seriously. They have been working on producing a permanent fix for "Flann Over Ireland," and intend to deploy this in a future update. The player support team are unable to speculate on when this update will be released. As soon as we have more confirmed information regarding release dates, this will be shared in the forums as soon as we are able to.
If you have any additional feedback that you would like us to pass forward, please let us know, as we'd like to see if there is anything further we can do
