I think you know what I'm talking about Ubisoft. Take a step back and compare, really compare the product you have just released with RS2014.
You've got work to do...
Utterly underwhelmed.
Looks like it's back to RS2014. Was super excited for this. The beta was ok, and I was glad that they postponed launch as the song list was kind of meh and there were all sorts of UI issues and bugs. Now they've launched, I understand they want to keep some good stuff for down the line, but really... This leaves a really bad taste. (Might have partially forgiven them if they had resolved many of the interface complaints raised in the beta also - but no).
There really had better be a push to resolve this terrible selection of initial songs quickly as I'm very sure many will jump back to 2014 - there's so little here to want to play why bother?
Wow, I hadn't even checked this yet. My son and I also love the split screen of RS2014.
This is a severe step backwards, and will certainly encourage us as a family to continue to use the old software.
What were they thinking?!? Not that there are any songs my son would enjoy anyway...
@cxhovey Yes, I was able to play for a couple of hours or so and then the game kicked me out saying there was a payment issue (there wasn't, the bank transaction seems to show that the 'pending' payment wasn't taken by Ubisoft). So I tried dozens of times since with multiple payment cards and Paypal for it to finally take a payment again, but it is still in 'pending' status and the subscription is still 'suspended'. Support say I need to wait 48 hours in case it is a bank issue (aside from the fact both 'pending' payments were different banks...). I put it down to unprecedented demand on their payment gateway, but still - pretty rubbish.
Before you get too excited though, do check out these forums for the state of the game as it currently stands. I will still be purchasing this, but I am very open to cancelling if Ubi don't pull their finger out and respond quickly to the atrocious song list they have launched with. And sure it could just be my music taste, but you have to be super open to a diverse range of bargain basement 'hits'.
So I enabled my headphones so I could practice quietly within the Windows taskbar. All worked fine. I then wanted to re-activate the main speakers. I jumped back to desktop and reverted the audio change from the taskbar again - but RS+ wants to keep using the headphones. I restart the game, no change. I head over to the Windows Sound settings and force RS+ to use the main audio output, no change. I try all the above with and without RS's Exclusive Audio mode.
I finally find a way to stop the headphones and that is to block any apps from using the headphones device in Windows. Seems a bit extreme. I presume this is a bug...?
@fufkin Yes this also worked for me (paid this time successfully with PayPal). Well done!
@Deadstar300 So many good points here, one that really sticks out for me is not being able to click on the Artist (or Album) name to find more of the same. It seems incredible that the release would be pushed by a year from the initial release due partially to the negative feedback from the Beta, to then not have a UI test team review it. They must have hundreds of developers on this team, it blows my tiny mind.
And why would they drop multiplayer? It reinforces the difference between their previous game and this one. Many will go back to 2014 to play with their friends and family and they'll realise - why pay for the subscription? Madness.
@rkoby One reason the subscription model has been used here, I suspect, is to have the cash to be able to licence the tracks and keep them coming in weekly/monthly updates.
I use Yousician, but I far more frequently will use RS2014 because I can play along with the actual song. I would certainly not be paying Ubisoft for cover tracks, and if their current playlist of 5000 - filled with so many D-grade tracks - isn't brought up to the kind of quality we expected from their past two releases on launch day it wouldn't surprise me if more people return to RS2014 and services like Yousician. I'm not sure there is a place in the market for another cover track service.
@Ubi-SleepyGoat Yes, the same has happened to me. Paid once, then kicked out of the game to see the subscription listed as 'suspended'. Finally about 12 hours later (11:05 BST 7th Sept), payment was taken again, listed as 'pending' in my bank but the game is still 'suspended'.
edit: I forgot to mention, I tried multiple times in between getting the first 'suspension' and payment finally being taken. Each time a payment was attempted my accounts would block the payment with an automated fraud stop. It was only after multiple "accept payment" attempts with the various banks did it go through. This makes me think Ubisoft's payment gateway may have been implicated in a large number of chargebacks (where payments are disputed with the customer's bank by the customer).

@TK-421i Keep clicking songs (you can deselect them later). For some reason you need to select loads of songs for the continue button to activate.
