This will be a rather long post, kind of a kitchen sink...
First, will this update really happen?
Signs are not very encouraging. The story of "Nightmare" is not a good precedent. This total silence could mean many things, but in most cases it is quiet because there is nothing to say. The other part that is worrisome is that we still have bugs and issues, more than a year old, repeatedly reported and known beyond any doubt that are still not addressed, no visible fix or maintenance are being done on the game. I find it hard to believe that more significant development is actually worked on while we are facing this void. Or maybe I am wrong (I wish I am). In reality, it could go in three different directions:
- Serious expansion a la WONY plus game mode, total surprise (yey!)
- Something thin and rushed (Nightmare recycled), to check the box
- Ignore it and it will go away strategy (no ETA)
Now, for me personally, the only thing of true interest would be a real expansion, like WONY. The game needs new content (map additions, new missions, etc.). I am tired of running the same missions, challenges, etc., no matter the difficulty or mode or whatever else. There might be a new game mode or new weapons/gear, but running on the same content, after a little while I am coming back to "What's the point?" question. And this is why I will take a break from the game for a while (some other things to do, and when I will have time, I have some unfinished business in TD1).
Beside a full expansion, there are a few low-hanging-fruits (conceptually speaking, I am not a game developer, so I don't know how complex these things are or work volume would take) that would be of interest:
- Make classified missions full missions, with the associated difficulty and directives; there are a few good ones that I didn't play since the story days (how hard could this be?!)
- Use the raid maps/locations to create some "classic" off main map missions (a la Coney Island)
- Black Tusk / White Tusk control points
- White Tusk open world encounters
- Recycle NYC map from TD1 in a summer setting, add CPs and activities (for that matter, you could recycle some GEs, and the Underground which will beat the Summit in any poll)
- DZ Immersion mode, with long status timer (> 20 min or down), and status choice when you enter DZ
- Please change the silly Hunter spawn mechanic, anything but these stupid chores
This is for all intents and purposes a wish list, but I also believe these would give TD2 some very much needed oxygen.
In the absence of any communication, we can chat and whish things till blue in the face, but shooting the crap with friends makes the wait easier.
What else should go on the list?
Here to sing praise @N3mB0t
Finally got together for a farming session, and in less than one hour I got the Ridgeway chest! (via shortcut - N3mB0t generously sharing one with me).
And and I can confirm, he is one VERY lucky farmer. Keep in mind we played together less than one hour and he shared with me three exotics and a bunch of other good stuff. While grouped I even got a Tardigrade when on floor #2 of the Summit... on Challenging!!! None of the exotics ever dropped so fast for me, by far!
Also, he is a VERY experienced player. Short play time, but high octane! Thoroughly enjoyed.
They are still working on the server side, and probably there will be another hotfix type update.
I bet the game will be unstable until they figure the final fix and it gets deployed.
Remember March 23rd? Similar unfolding, just that this time the consoles are much more affected than PC.
This is perhaps what passes as "modern", it's so busy and all over the place. One would imagine there are more personalization settings to streamline it, but no... Does the same things, in a way more distracting manner.
The only thing I appreciate is the larger font.
I don't mind people "messing" with me, but not like that.
If it's as simple as "everything-goes" then they should call it Everything-Goes Zone, don't even bother with lore, story, etc. Just drop some assets and some loot in there and it's fine. Don't even bother with Rogue status, just shoot who and when you feel like it. It would be the same as this status flip-flopping and no immersion that is the DZ now when people decide to do that dance. It is a poor design decision breaking story and immersion big time.
I don't mind a person who decides to enter the DZ as Rogue and stays Rogue, waits for me in the shadows, ready to pounce and get me, I actually welcome it; but I mind immensely with someone is strolling casually by me and shoots me in the back in the next second.
Now I know that Ubi can do any wrong or mistake by you (there is always a justification), but understand for others some things don't make a lot of sense and good be better (all subjective, of course).
Yes, it's true, The Division kind if ruined gaming for me too.
The reverse is that it also destroyed any shred of goodwill Ubisoft as a business ever had with me. Don't get me wrong, this is not about the developers, despite some issues, it's clear these games are a result of labor of love. My problem is with the Ubi "leadership", or rather the utter lack of it on how it manages the relationship with it's customers, the development direction, and business abilities in general. The ineptitude is just breathtaking.
The bugs and glitches are not fixed not because the developers are lazy, or they are incompetent, they are not fixed because the developers are pushed to work on other things that are expected (by the "leadership" and their echo chamber) to make money. Same goes for improvements or features or content requested by the gamers openly offering their money for those.
The customers and fans are ignored not because the people like community managers are mean or bad, it's because they don't exist, or are stretched thin, or there is nothing to say or do - a result of cost cutting on games that are not generating revenue (mostly because the "leadership" is so blind and inept at capitalizing on what they already have).
Well, if I'm treated like this, I will respond in kind... As an example, I am interested in AC Valhalla, but I won't buy until all patches and DLCs are out, and hitting ~$10 mark for the gold edition. And a similar approach applies to anything Ubisoft...

I bet you can down any "muppets" (and by that I mean unsuspecting players) with that, as you said, "in seconds".
The debate was about insta-melts, less than a second, while the opponent doesn't register damage or very little. Which should not be the case with an all red + GC build.
I have a desktop with the updates described above (haven't seen any hotfix), and a laptop without those updates (updates paused). On both the game crashed the same way (suspended) and totally random. Tried on both all kinds of things, from various graphic drivers with shader cache on and off, to monkeying with the CPU functions such as APM and virtualization. No luck, same random crashes.
Yesterday I run a little test... connected as I always connect on a East Coast server and ended up with two crashes in about 30 min. Joined a friend on a Europe server and played for more than 3 hours without any issue. The connection was not the greatest (the icon flipped between red and yellow, didn't check the stats) but still the game worked great. This game session started around 8pm EST, which most of Europe was past 1am, not that many players.
As I said it before, these issues are caused on the server side, that's why they are so random and couldn't find any viable workaround on players' computers, simple because the problem is not there. On the server side, could be any number of reason and we can only speculate: downgraded servers that can't support many players during the GEs/busy seasons, packets errors that trigger EAC or Connect or whatever... who knows.
Funny enough, these bouts of problems are always coming with server maintenance / updates / GEs. Funny because those updates or server maintenance were supposed to make the game better, not worse, yet still... My bet is that we will have less issues as the Golden Bullet fever is fading away and probably back to normal when it's over... Unless we have another update or maintenance
PS. Get ready for the worst crash fest if and when the new content comes out (if it's true new content and any good, that is).
Spoke too soon... Crashed around the 5-minute mark, while looking through the inventory in the White House. LOL!
The Division2 not responding => process suspended => exit to desktop
I'm done with this game and with Ubisoft.
Good luck to everyone else still persisting with this junk.
